updating from bioware
« on: December 22, 2005, 07:12:00 pm »
i have a dial up connection at home and last week had to reinstall windows. when i get home from camp i will reinstall nwn, but when i need to update or patch if you like,  the file is around 60 mb. for some reason i download files at 5 kb/sec,  this isnt a real problem since i can do it at night and sleep. however somtimes i get dumped by my server and when i lose connection i have to restart the update procedure. disapionting to wake and see you still a need a 6-7 hour download. and theres even a bigger chance to get dropped during the day when things are busier. i have access to a high speed connection and im wondering if the updates can be downloaded and installed another way than thru the update option of nwn.

You need to get a download accelerator. If when they fail (for whatever reason) they start off where you last were--instead of starting over again from the beginning.

What you want to do is go to the bioware site and download the critical rebuild version 1.66 using the high speed connection you said you have access to. Then burn that on a CD or something and run it on your computer with nwn. That will patch you up to 1.66.
