    Zerpa's CDQ
    « on: July 31, 2005, 09:04:00 pm »
I don't want to be trying to steal Zerpa's thunder here.  But I had to post my reaction to my first DM quest experience.

Zerpa was the centre of a good quest.  She played her part with a nervousness and eagerness that I could believe.  I felt protective and elated in equal doses as she slowly discovered connections to her past.   The rest of the group, were a pleasure providing certainty and leadership, in dangerous comabt environs, to comedy and distraction. I have no idea what they are like as RL people, there characters are so vivid to me now.

Special thanks to the DM Aether/Dorganath (at least that's how I think it is spelt).  Helped me, and any others who might have been quest newbies, understand the mechanics without to much fuss.  Maintained a focus on Zerpa's story without ignoring the rest of the party.  Not easy with eight eager beavers.

Would like to thank you eight.  You showed me the potential for Layonara to become a true roleplay game that matched the "pen and paper" roleplay I was captivated by (admittedly I am a geek).

So my thanks extend to the team, who made this environment, in which this cdq could happen.

Excellent job Dorgie (I'mma call you Dorgie from now on, becaue AEthie sounds stupid)

This was a very fun quest actually, and the post-quest screwing around was great.

All of the players were AWESOME too. I didn't feel like I was just in a mob trying to kill somthing. I had a really good time ...

Still not sure what GM I want to run my CDQ thugh ....

Thanks, Mary, for starting us out here. I had no idea what to expect...neva dun any of 'dis D & D stuff behfo! It definitely is addicting! I think it's so enjoyable because zerpa has fallen into such good company from the start! You all were so terrific and patient as zerpa tried to figure out what the heck "search" and "spot" related to.  All of you were right there, watching my back and pointing me in the right direction. "Dorgie," you handled it all with such grace and flair, and..uh..humor. I had my back turned, but luckily I caught "keep the line moving, mortal scum" in Quin's album....heh heh.

Thank you all for a wonderful evening!

Now, uh, excuse me, zerpa needs to get back to her studies.... ;)

I'm glad you guys enjoyed yourselves.  I know I enjoyed running it for you, and I enjoyed the RP between you all.  Good show!

And yeah, you can call me "Dorgie" but in return....

Zerpa, I shall now call you Zippy.

And Zhofe, I shall now call you......Susan.

      Fair enough? ;)

      Edit:  Great screenie, Susan!

          Yes, another great Aether quest.

Having eight people search the Great Library for stuff interesting to them was .. interesting.  The questions people asked that they rolled for was fun (dwarf marriages, etc).  I loved contemplating the globe with Derrick ... "It's round", "Yeah, the map I have is flat, and my map shows mistone on the left and voltrex on the right, but this thing says they're next to each other" ... etc.  Using the dice bag was new for me, zerpa, and giddy, so this was cool.

Watching Derrick on point in the Forest of Mists was fun.  Luring the giants back to our ambush made things all too easy.  Derrick's good bait!  Seeing Lorindar, Pranzis, and the Forest of Mists was cool for me, since I put all these places in my bio as places I was from, originally.  The scope of this world continues to impress me.

And the back story part ... zerpa's family, etc.  It was cool in ways the players didn't know.  Amazing how game life and real life intersect.

And the OOC stuff on the docks, and in the GM area.  The best.  Really funny, funny stuff.

This is why Layonara is so great.   Like germaine Lorn said, just like PnP.   Aether did an amazing job running the quest.  His attention to detail and the timing in which he smoothly introduced things was flawless.   Right down to Derrick getting zapped by the librarian for spinning the globe faster and faster LOL.   I specifically liked the tie with zerpa's grandmother.  BRAVO!!!

The roleplaying was among the best I have experienced.  There were so many different personalities.  It was interesting to see how even very different personalities can work together.  Everyone played their part and got to play a part in zerpa's unfolding CDQ.

Great story, adventure, action, and emotion all wrapped up.

          Thanks to everyone!!!
