So, your character is about to go Epic or has already made it through his/her Epic Character Development Quest to get his lvl 21.
What does that mean? It means that you accomplished a heroic act. An act worth of remembrance. An act worthy of an Epic.
What is an Epic? A long narrative or poem telling of a hero’s deeds We are going to give you a chance to leave your mark on the world, but you’ll have to do something yourself as well. Once you have successfully completed your ECDQ you can now choose to have a statue of your character in the in-game Hall of Heroes. The description of that statue will be the story of your ECDQ. If you want this to happen for your character, you can ask for the quest write-up that the GM makes for every ECDQ. Then you can shape it into a poem or story. This quest write-up will not be something very detailed, more like bullet points that list what happened. Using this list, you can shape the poem/story, and once you’ve done that, you send it to EdTheKet. Ed will then review and help with some revisions/edits.
Once he’s done with it and you’re fine with the text as well, the statue with the epic story as description will be placed in the Hall for everyone to see. The epic story will also be put into a book and this book will drop as loot from monsters in-game so people can learn of your characters deeds from that as well.
An example of an Epic poem can be found here (http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=8858&posts=1#M48821).

Where is this hall of heroes?

Check the forum Trace. It's a forum section with Epic character's stories, ledgends of PCs, and Perma Dead characters.

the in-game Hall of Heroes
;)

Hall of Heros is not in place yet. I want to make sure that players (those that go epic) actually take the time to do this. If not then that place will be empty, if so then great it will definetly be added as I think it is important. But it requires help from the epic/heroic players.

Hey look! It's my first really embarrasing blunder of 2005! Duh, of course he knows where it is on the forum, he's posting in it. :) He must be talking about something else. *sighs and shakes his head* I really need to read more carefully.

This is an EXELLENT idea!!!... I truly hope all who "go Epic"[/i] take the time to write a little something up so that character can be given the recognition they deserve.

I hope so too. The initial plan (as can be read in "What does it mean to be Epic on Layonara" in the GM thread was that I would write them all based on the write-ups. So I did the one for Ta'k which took me nearly 4 hours and decided that that was time I did not have :( So we changed it, people can get recognition, but they need to do something for it as well, which fits :)

So.... you epics.
Rumor has it that somebody is working on an update to the handbook :) Rumor also has it that epic stories could go in there, if they're supplied to that person. So get writing and send them to me. (And you might get that statue too ;) ).
Thanks.

I guess it's time to bump this one.
-
Folks, if you want to be a part of a long running history in handbooks, in game, further versions you must get this completed and get it submitted to Ed. If this does not happen you will not go down in history other than word-of-mouth and current first-hand knowledge. If you want it in writing and to continue foward you need to do this. It should not be the responsibilty of Ed, myself, or the GM Team, it is the responsibility of each individual.
Thank you.

Bumping as a reminder.
-
Bumping this again. I see where people want to go down in history, be in lore, become npc's, be in the handbook....and yet very few are submitting this information. The GM Team is not going to do the work for you, it is up to each individual player to get this information to Ed.

For the record, I received info from dadunmir (Yashilla) and Ozy (Ozy).
That's two out of... well, many.
-
so do you want Epics now, or "World Leaders"?
-
World Leaders, since the term "epic" no longer applies as we had previously used it.
Though one could apply the term "epic" to the scope and importance of said events.
-
I have a write up for Benjamin Poetr, Do I request permission to post it here?
-
You post it in the Hall of Heroes/ Heroines Forum
-
So "here," yes, in that you're in the correct forum, but not "here" in this particular thread. You'll start a new thread, if that wasn't clear.
