It seems people want to be getting rid some gold so heres my idea. I will just offer the general idea with a small example of how it could work.
 
 Set up a banker type npc in the temples which collects tithes from the players. when a player reaches a certain level of donations he would then recieve a blessing from the priest to take with him/her. example: Amalric donates 100 gold to the preist. he recieves a bless spell. when he has accumulated 5000 gold in tithes and donates 500 gold he would recieve a prayer spell. but if he has accumalted 5000+ in tithes and only donates 100 gold he would still only recieve a bless spell. this could be exteneded to whatever level the contenet team see fit.

Also as a collective bonus when the church totals from all the players reach a certain level somthing larger could happen. example: when a church reaches 1 million gold that church could offer supplies at a discount 10% perhaps. At 5 million a new church may be built somewhere in layonara.  these are just example figures to express the idea as i am sure the content team has a better understanding of how to implement this idea.

That's a freakin' good idea.  So many here RP a heavy faith to one diety or another, they really should be donating money directly to their churches/temples.  Even for those (like Cole) that venerate multiple dieties, it makes sense to donate to the particular temple you want blessing from.  For instance, if I'm going to battle, I tithe to Vorax or Toran, if I'm going to plant a crop, I'll tithe to Aeridin, and if I'm going to a brothel, I'll tithe to Xeen.  You get the picture.

In the housing thread I talked about how us paladins of Toran might benefit from a single room in the temple being like a barracks room, with chests in it for storage of our suits of armor and such, a safe rest spot, and a training room.  I also wrote that there could be a church banker in the temple and that a percentage of our banked money would go to the church by way of tithes, which in turn would support the church's activities.  It would make it a pain in that we couldn't withdraw gold so easily when we travel, but then we'd have the added bonus of having the room available for us to store our armor and get some rest or training.
  Paladins needing space for crafting supplies?  Give me two hots and a cot and I'm good to go!
