It will be nice to have different game controlled characters that introduce the players to the Basics of crafting even charge for that information and sell the basic supplies.
And then maybe the players can sell each other different materials.
Example I need cooper for arrows tips but don't want to go mining.
In other topic when people are speaking to form a group the middle of the street can they acknowledge sometimes that is raining and go inside, it feels silly to stand there like is sunny and bright.
Is a crime to discuss business inside an inn with ale in hand?

About the game controlled characters, you just need volunteers :) Normal players who are there to help people with the basics (even though most are pretty self explanatory)
About the people "singing in the rain", well... they need to be mroe concentrated in their characters and surroundings, I suppose.

Well it's kinda strange sometimes with the rain.. And going into an inn to talk gives a better feel to it.. But I don't know.. Pherhaps people are a bity lazy or had to much ale already ;)

I'm pretty sure that there would be plenty of people who would sell you the copper you need to make your arrow tips. Use the Trade and Market Hall located on the forums and make an in chracter post that you need some of the items and would be willing to pay for them.
About the rain, I think that it really depends on the character. For example, Caldiir doesn't mind getting wet, and would NEVER take a sip of ale. He considers it to be for the weak and would never drink it. However, Magnus, my dwarf cleric would probably hate to get his metal rusty so he would go inside when it's raining and would drink a WHOLE lot of ale. :)
