Title: Enchantments
Post by: Cp_Winddancer on May 11, 2005, 02:04:00 AM
I ask only because I do not want to ruin what i have.  If I have a visual effect on a weapon and then add an enchantment 2 which effect will show up.  ex) I have a short sword with an evil visual effect on it.  I want to add a frst 2 enchantment to it will I loose the evil visual on it.

I remember Farros had the lightning visual on his sword before he had the echantment on it, and the visual remained on it.  You should be fine applying an enchantment after the visual effect.

Rod's I and II don't add any visual effect with the possible exception of a light. Rod III and IV do give a visual effect. I think those visuals can be overridden with the visual effect coatings, but you may have to re-apply the effect after applying one of those higher rods.

Higher rods will only add a visual effect if the weapon hasn't any, so your short sword will keep the visual effect evil, even if you add the frost enhancement.

Well, that's just the point of having them... for your weapons to look cool, hehe. ;)

And actually, visual effects are coatings, not rods.  They're made through alchemy not enchanting.

And yeah...they look cool and it doesn't add anything to the level reqs of the weapon.

Do visual effects wear off with time? Never used one before so I have no clue.

No, they're permanent and can only be replaced by other visual effects.

Plus combining an Evil Visual Effect with a Fire Rod 1 makes a sick glowing red sword, that casts a dim red light. Just ask Matilda. :D

Does the order of addition to the weapon of interest hold precedence.  For example, taking the enhancement rods that do show a visual effect (III and IV).  Adding the rod III to a weapon after adding a visual effect (holy for example).  Which effect will show? The enhancement effect (lightning for example) or the holy effect that was previously on the weapon to begin with?

Visual Effects will be paramount to any other enchantment.
