Title: Already thinking of a new PC to make
Post by: Parreyon on June 16, 2005, 12:05:00 PM
What is everyone's opinion of a half giant priest of Vorax

N/G
Domain Good and War
Weapon Great Axe

Stats:
ST: 14 -> 19
DX: 10 -> 10
CO: 12 -> 16
WI: 14 -> 14
IN: 14 -> 8
CH: 8  -> 8

I just have to come up with a good character background .....

Half Giant Racial Adjustments are such:

+5str, +4con, -6int, -6cha (ESA +3str, +4con, -4int, -4cha)

This means all combined with the Half Orc normal racial stats you will get +5str, +4con, -6int, -6cha, but the Half Giant stats are +3str, +4con, -4int, -4cha (Half orc gives you +2 STR, -2 INT, -2 CHA)

So you have your numbers mixed, plus you forgot the - to Charisma.

ahh ... misunderstood the way that worked ... ok ;)

I just put in the adjusted number instead of the original then adjusted for CH

ST: 14 -> 17
DE: 10 -> 10
CO: 12 -> 16
WI: 14 -> 14
IN: 14 -> 10
CH: 14 -> 10

I have been debating on a barbarian / Shaman type combo dedicated to Torax or pure priest. Thoughts?

  Well first things first. Most giants are gonna worship Grannoch not Vorax. Dwarves and Giants are also kinda mortal enemies so the chances that a tribe of giants would worship a dwarven god, or a dwarven clan would take in a half giant and teach him about Vorax would be unlikely.
    From an RP point of view I'd say this development (unless there's a really solid story behind it) would be better done in game by RPing with a real cleric of Vorax. That way you'd get the full feel of it...
    Also from a character building point of view 14 is really not good intelligence for a cleric. That is assuming you take +1 Wisdom every 4th level you'll be left behind in some aspects.
    Interesting idea, just my opinions on some of those, others are kinda unwritten facts. Totally up to you, however people will take it into consideration when deciding whether or not to approved such a powerful subrace...
  Last thing: Giants must start out as a non lawful alignment which only leaves NG open for you to take. ZV-

According to the racial write up, a half giant could be raised in a human society or a giant society. If he were raised in a barbarian/ nomadic lifestyle of humans, it is possible for Vorax to be worshipped by them ( yes a more chaotic god of war would be more likely). I had thought about a Cleric of Gronnoch as well though ... I just didn't feel like using a maul for a weapon :p

and yes, given the non lawful alignment and not being allowed to be evil ... N/G and TN were the two I was thinking of.

*Grins*  You could make a half-giant that for some reason (And it'd have to be a good one) was raised by dwarves, and so he thinks, acts, and speaks like a dwarf.  Oooh.  If you don't do this, I am.  That would be so very fun.

*Begins plotting*

Besides being fun would put alot of dwarves to the test heh. And now im thinking what happens when his sumons keep attacking him for being a Giant :D. To me it all sounds a bit funky though. Dwarves dont like giants, giants like...to eat dwarves.

Ah and thus why the character would be absolutely fun to play.  Perhaps he's a fighter that just THINKS he's a priest of Vorax.  He has a stick that he talks to that he thinks is his summoned Voraxian warrior.

Alrighty...back to planning...and tweaking.  The biggest thing in character creation to think about is "Is this character one that I will love to play and develop or is it just a novelty"

At the moment in my mind it's the latter, but I'm trying to find ways to gear it toward the former.
