Title: Slow NWN
Post by: frogger on June 17, 2005, 11:25:00 AM
I am not sure if this is the proper forum for this, however I am unsure as to where to put it. so here goes.

I recently bought NWN Plat and got it installed, etc etc.

When I try to play, whether the OC or on Layo everything is extremely laggy. I know this is not Layos problem but I thought maybe this great community might have some suggestions.

Here is my system config (oh and keep in mind I *have* played NWN on this same machine over a year ago):

AMD 1.13 Ghz Processor
640ish MB PC133 memory
64MB GeForce2 MX 400 AGP video card

I have closed every program I do not need running.

I have the video options set to fast with 16MB textures and an 800X600 res.
I have sound set to Miles Fast 2D Audio
My mouse moves at a normal speed however every action is very slow, such as zooming, rotating the camera and even walking.

So I am not sure why this is happening or how to fix it.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

A big lagger is shadows. They look real nice if you have a fast PC (I'm not too good with PC builds so I don't know) otherwise they're just lag. :)

I have those turned down to a bare minimum.

And quite honestly it is like this even on the first screen where you click New, Multiplayer, etc.

Very slow response and it never used to do that...

I am baffled.

It would be my bet that your current video driver does not have OpenGL support.
Update to your latest driver and make sure it has OpenGL support.

Aye, or you might not have the latest directX if you use windows.

(Or you could go linux, then troubles go bye-bye  ;)  )

I should have thought of that! That worked. *grins*

That is why I asked here. I knew someone would be able to guide me.

Thanks so much!!
