What an awesome part of the game! Crafting! So, I bought all the little cards and books I could find in the crafting store, and all the little tools necessary and such...and now I am losing my mind. So many things to do. I was wondering, I see the percentage probability to successfully complete a task. How do I increase that? Does it just increase with time and practice?
Also, there are two things that I can't find in the crafters store, sand, and sewing thread. Do I have to make those somehow?
i was looking around on the Tradeskill stats page on this website, jeez there are some high lvl tradeskillers. I saw one that interested me, musical instrument making. I didn't see a card in the general craft vendor describing that process. I am currently in Hlint. Does that mean that I have to be in another city to find that card?
Anyway, I think the crafting idea and such is really cool, and I hope to become really good at it. Cause, I want to make stuff.

Yes, as you progress through a craft successfully, you are earned xp both in the craft and for your character, that way your chances of success increase.
Some items need to be found, so they can be used in some crafts, also.
Musical instrument crafting is a craft exclusive for Bards (or rogues with a high UMD? not sure), so if you're not a bard, i don't think the craft is accessible for you...

The best way to find resources is to ask people In-Game (IG). Also, if you have a question on how to use a particular piece of crafting equipment, just ask. This lets the world run itself. In addition, it gets you to meet new people and lets the ‘older’ people meet you. That is how relationships are formed.
On a different note, if you see a party heading out, ask if you can team up with them. You get to wonder around the land and receive training from what the party encounters.
