Title: faulty shovel???

Gabby is unable to equip her shovel.  

Have done so many times before today so just wondering if its a bug?  
I tried relogging and have tried buying a new shovel but neither has nelped.  
any suggestions?

after all the clay I have dug I think I am brain dead!!!  I cant believe I forgot you just use the shovel!!!!!
