I gain a level and went to level up as a SD since I did my CDQ I'm allowed to and it wouldn't let me. I thought that I had Dodge, but it's uncanny dodge is there a difference? Because I didn't have "dodge" I didn't have Mobility and thus couldn't lvl as a SD. Everything else is there that I need. I don't understand. I have Uncannny Dodge and I have never been given the choice of just Dodge. Please is anyone knows what might help me let me know. Now I have to wait 80,000 XP for my SD abilities. :(

When they sat things like Dodge are required they are talking about the feat.

To qualify as a Shadowdancer you need:
Skills: Move silently 8 ranks, Hide 10 ranks, Tumble 5 ranks.
Feats: Dodge (Not Uncanny Dodge, thats a rogue special ability), Mobility.
(The ranks of the skills without the dex bonus)

In my feats section it says uncanny dodge and no Dodge or Mobility. I was never able to get those or choose those in the past. Frustrating.

The only requirement for the Dodge feat is 13+ dex, which I'm sure you have. So you would have had it as a choice everytime you could take a feat. You wouldn't see Mobility as a choice because you can't take that until you have Dodge.

I honestly never saw it. :( and this time when I leveled up I wasn't able to choose a feat. So 80,000xp more before I MAY be able to get Dodge so then 160,000xp more before I MAY be able to get Mobility...etc... :(

Actually the news are worse I fear. You need to wait to level 9 to get your next feat (dodge by the looks of it) and then level 12 for the other (mobility). Feats do not come every level, they come every 3 levels. If your DEX is 13 or above, which I am sure it is, then Dodge shows up. So at this point you will have to wait till level 12 to get your first shadowdancer level.

*crying* :( I'm so bummed right now it's insane!! :( I wish I could go back and fix it but I never saw Dodge...

You can also get a nice pair of boots with the feat dodge as a plus ;) so you'll be able to grab mobility next :p

No, the boots grant the feat temporarily. It wont show up during levelup.

Nevermind...Pankoki says it won't work. Terrible terrible...I never get to play so I level so slow I'll be a SD by the time I'm 30 years old (22 right now). I know I'm being a little over the top but I'm really bummed out right now. I was sooooo excited when I leveled finally. I guess I'm going to have to be very very patient. All my hard work down the drain.

that sucks fer her what good are feats while you wear the items if it's not taken into accounts :s

Er.. thats kinda of a silly question Freemen. What happens when you take off the boots and all of a sudden you dont have the requirements for mobility?

You loose everything, so better never take them off :p
I still say t'isn't right *shrugs* If an item gives you a feat then as long as you're wearing that item you should be able to get all the benefits frem having that feat...heh heh in a perfect world ;)

I wish I could start all over again and struggle through all my first levels again just to get dodge when I should...even though I still swear i never had it as a choice even with dex 13+. There's got to be some thing I can do.

I know how you feel. Back when navarre attacked us with the drow alot happened that changed cole forever. About that time I decided to go Shadow dancer. But because of skill choices I can't get my first SD lvl until lvl 13. It has been at-least three months and I am just now coming up on lvl 12. Kind of a bummer, but then again it should take a long time to learn the shadow ways. I tell myself and others I have been in training. Cole has this spider shaped scar that reminds him of why he chose to learn the ways of the shadow. it makes him work harder.
He also sees a certain person and it makes him work even harder. Since then I have got some items that give him some good bonus' to hide and Move silently so now he can walk pretty much anywhere without being seen. This way, his improvements in hiding are apparent. Soon though he will be just a shadow of himself...soon.
Edit:and freeman, to learn the shadow ways one must train...practice..and train some more. Having a feat through an item would not really go with that. Might as well have items that grand PrC. A ring and an amulet combo that grants arcane archer status. Doesn't seem right.

Your post makes me feel a little better. I had some time to calm myself and think things through. Unmet expectations was what it was. I can think up some RPing stuff to make it work.
The two things that are the most frustrating about all of this are 1)I wanted SD to have more levels than Rogue before lvl 20 and 2)I don't get to play much so level 13 seems like an eternity away. I've been playing since March on and off and am only at lvl 7. I've worked hard for my levels and it makes me appreciate them more, but I still find it hard to gain levels for people who can't make quests and don't have a ton of free time to put into really good adventuring and crafting. I've started crafting and have enjoyed it. I got to do a lot today because I had the day off, but my husband felt neglected. ;) I haven't had a real day off (since I work Saturdays) for two weeks. I try not to play on Sundays because that is one of my only days with my husband, other than evenings during the week. Just wish there were more PST quests for 9-6 workers.
The thing that I don't want to be thought of as doing during this time between lvl 7 to lvl 13 is metagaming. I am really going to be pushing my levels so that I can become a shadowdancer because I believe that what has happened has paused his story. I am going to work hard for the levels and will comtinue crafting and RPing a lot but if I am going on adventures to earn a lot of XP, like killing ogres and such...I don't want to be thought of as a powergamer or metagamer. Remy was born to be a SD, I had him go on a quest to become one...he needs to become one to continue his story.

if it makes you feel a little better you wont be the first one to have to wait for level 13 to take their first shadowdancer level, as shadowdancer was a restricted PRC when it first started, and lue didn't get aproved for it till she was level 10 and didn't have the mobility feat at that time, so i too had to wait till 13 to get the shadow dancer level

I understand completely. When I chose to become a SD I did know it woudn't be untill 13. It sounds like you on the other hand had just missed the dodge deal. If you are at lvl 7 right now ask the dm's (probally through a pm) if you can start over doing exactly the same thing, except taking the dodge feat. They wouldn't be able to give you anything Remy has right now but they probally can delete the old and let you start a new. As long as you keep him the same as your submission bio and char threads. The fact that you just had a cdq might help their minds on the matter.
Granted, I am not a gm, or even a m. But it can't hurt to ask.
Either way, look up Cole Etinfall in the game. We can train for the shadow together. I am a VERY slow exp gainer. Started Cole in January I think and I am lvl 11 now :) So it might be cool, since we will be close to the same lvl most of the time.

Question to Thunder and Etinfall... do you both feel that it is better to have 11-13 lvl's rogue or whatever you were before SD anyway? I would hate to lose what Remy has now just to get SD sooner it would be a waste. I don't think that they would go for it either. I honestly can never remember having Dodge as a choice the last two times but oh well. It is probably better that Remy has time to deal with his mother's death and his choice of his path toward the shadow. I just am not very patient...:). I would love to hang out Cole.

well Lue is currently 13/6 rogue/Shadowdancer, honestly i like having the 12 levels of rogue before become a shadow dancer, helps make me feel that i earned it, seeing as how otherwise a player can be a shadodancer in a week (assuming they get a quick CDQ as you can reach the level and requirements at level 6 it's not hard to get the ex for level 7)

Also, from a character building standpoint (which, isnt the most important) being a 10+ rogue gives you some bonus rogue feats, crippling strike, or imp evasion, although many of the other feats you can chose you get in shadowdancer levels anyway (so read up on which you get so you dont end up with redundant feats.)
Also, more rogue levels means higher sneak attack, so you'll do more damage in combat.

Didn't know all that stuff. Wow lvl six in a week. It's taken me 4 months to get to lvl 7. :) I work 5 days a week...ahh the days of school when I had my summers completely free. :) Being a grown-up I guess. hehe
I think that it is good that he'll have more Rogue under his belt. Being an Expert in Rogue so he's ready for his step into the shadows. etc...
