If I wanted to become a duelist with Key, but keep Shortswords as my primary weapon, would I still recieve the bonuses to my attacks if I am not using a rapier? I know I would have to take weapon focus rapier. Thanks!

Precise Strike (Level 2) - Damage bonus of +d6 piercing while unarmored and wielding a rapier, +2d6 piercing at 6th
Seems like you only get it when meeting the requirements, meaning not wearing armor and handling a rapier.
But maybe the scripting isn't that rigid in giving the bonus. Maybe someone who has taken the prestige class knows?

I really should have just PMed ghost or leanthar with this. I do recall that another weapon type could be used. But oh well.

Shortsword should work if it's just one. Dualwield won't.

But you can dual wield rapiers, right? Because Key is looking pretty sick with two rapiers right now.

Nah duelists have to use just one weapon. Dualwielding them won't give the bonuses the class gets.

Still, she looks really sick with a rapier, or just that broken shortsword. Oh well. I still am going to try and go for this.
