Post by: Lockederboss on July 30, 2005, 05:17:00 AM
another question pops up,

i was searching through them classes to see what i like, and i found a really nice class that`d match me perfectly id think.

Unholy Champion of Corath

..and now i see they seem to be restricted?

anyone can drop their 2 cents on that?

Indulging in killing, mayhem, slaughter and such is just not material for a player character on Layonara. For good reason.

Well correct me if I am wrong but any unholy champion needs to be evil, and in order to become evil you have to have played here for quite awhile and shown the GMs that you can RP correctly.  So...for a newer character starting off, its not likely it will be approved.

In order to be a Holy Champion of either Vorax or Toran you must be of the same alignment as your deity. That means Lawful Good for both Toran and Vorax.
In order to be an Unholy Champion of either Corath or Pyretechon you must be the same alignment as your deity. That means Chaotic Evil for both Corath and Pyretechon.
All Evil Alignments (Lawful Evil, Neutral Evil, and Chaotic Evil) are restricted. There is only one PC on Layonara that is evil right now and he RPed for well over a year to reach that mark. Very few others, if anyone else will ever get there.
Chaotic Evil is a forbidden alignment. No PC may ever be Chaotic Evil. Those who have become Chaotic Evil will be turned into NPCs for quest use only. That being said this is more of a "spice class" for NPCs. Or should you choose to retire a PC there's always the chance that you may attempt to become Chaotic Evil and become an Unholy Champion, then your PC will become an NPC and you have just retired him... or her.

I think the unholy champion classes were made before the rule that their alignments must match exactly their deities.  Because with that rule and the CE rule (which has been around for a long time I think) make those classes unplayable.

Not sure what the official scoop on this is... but both of the gods that have unholy champs are CE, so neither of them are playable at this point.

Maybe if there were certain circumstances a CN or NE char might be allowed to take the class, but it would be very difficult (since such a character would be so incompatible with other PCs that they wouldnt get to do a whole lot) and no one has either tried, or gotten far enough to bring up the point I dont think.

Maybe L will drop us a line on this if he walks by.

ZeroVega is correct, this is as designed. Ever faced an Unholy Champion of Corath or Pyrtechon on a quest? Hope that you don't *evil grin*
