Travels in Mistone - Day 2
My second day in the Mistone town of Hlint has been quite eventful. In fact, the town and its people have kept me on my toes since I rolled in. Its a bit far from the sea for my taste but it seems as good a place as any to start anew. I have not been able to secure parchment to write until now, but to recount the tale to this point is too great a feat and I fear I may not have enough to finish the tale, let alone record the happenings of the present. Suffice it to say that upon washing ashore up the coast from Fort Valensk, following a shipwreck off the coast of the dragon isles, I have been plying my craft as an entertainer and my services in appraisal of goods to pay my way. I am surprised by how well a bawdy sea chanty goes over in an inland bar. I'm sure the locals have no idea what they're really singing about, or care so long as the ale is flowing.
I must acquire a ship. What is a captain without a vessel of her own? It is a pity the humans hold to superstitions about women serving on sea-faring vessels, else I would not be in this predicament. As it stands none of the ships leaving had any "use" for an elf on their crew, not to mention a female elf. Their loss. I could navigate these trade lanes with nothing more than a star to point the way. I will return to the sea soon enough.
For more terrestrial endeavors, however, I have been honing my skills with the bow. I've never been one for swashbuckling. I can manage if I need to, but archery has alwaays been my forté. I have been given plenty of opportunity to practice in the last few days. Everything from ridding a mine of ogres to hunting boars.
I met a most intriguing gentleman this evening who goes by the psuedonym Mith (his full name is far too long to recall and I would do him a disservice to attempt to spell it without him beside me). After a game of cards we spent a great deal of time talking about wine and trade goods. He hopes to set up a cooperative union to supply him with trade goods in return for gold. He also has a budding stock of fine wines from a local temple's grapes.
I have been spending a great deal of time adventuring with a man named Drake, who also seems to be a landridden sailor. A kindred spirit. Perhaps he would make a fine crewman. But that is a question for a future date, when the dream of posessing a ship is closer to fruition, and for now it is but idle fantasy.

Travels in Mistone - Day 6
Yesterday I returned to Rilara for the first time since the wreck. While in Point Harbor I overheard a comment about Mist. Now, Mist is a goddess every sailor is familiar with, and is duly mindful of. I even know a few who have taken to worshipping her out of fear. Now in my mind that's no reason to worship anything. There are plenty to chose from and no god's wrath is pleasant. Worshipping a goddess whose nature is that of violent whimsy, often enough turned upon her own followers for no better reason than that they got her attention that day, seems foolish to me. However, I met two such folks.
Rolf and Yashilla, both blue from head to toe, were discussing something to do with Mist. I intruded on their conversation, in the hopes of finding out more about this most vexing goddess. The banter remained mostly on me, however, as a sailor. They seemed disappointed that I, as a sailor, had not chosen to follow Mist. Well bugger on that. Maybe they'll be more interesting to engage in conversation some other time.
As I write this I am preparing to take the stage at the Leilon Arms Inn. Quin has so graciously invited performers and I figure that I have what it takes to entertain a pub for a night.

Travels in Mistone - Day 10
As I write this I am in the company of Talan Va'lash, deep within the broken forest. We are en route to Port Hampshire from Hlint, by way of one of the more dangerous roads. I regard this as a perfect opportunity to observe and learn. Talan is an Arcane Archer, something I aspire to be as well.
The first demonstration I received was the flashiest display of them all. He fired what seemed to be a normal arrow that turned out to be a cleverly disguised fireball spell that then exploded in the midst of a group of ogres. He then spent some time interviewing me on my skills and magical capability. Its difficult to pin down such a variety of skills. A little while later I received the next demonstration, an arrow less aimed than guided directly to its target. He did not have time to explain that before moving on.
At one point we were surrounded by undead, and he fired what looked to be eight or nine arrows at once, guided with the same precision as the last, strking all the zombies that set upon us. The final one, that I could not quite understand, was how he enhanced every arrow in some way.
After the exchange of some lewd jokes on what I keep up my sleeve, he alluded to some sort of testing before continuing the lessons. I must seek him out soon it seems.

Travels in Mistone - Day 16
I have finally coaxed a task out of Talan Va'lash, upon the successful completion of which he will train me. I must seek the silk of either a Queen Dark Spider, or a Bebilith, and then fashion a bow string from it. Though I tried to explain that even goblins stand outside of my reach at present, he simply advised me to seek them out in the Underdark or Xantril. I cannot say I am terribly excited for either option.

*a small note scrawled in underneath*
It has been nearly a month of searching and still no progress worth noting. It is now my 44th day in my journey on Mistone.
