Heya,
Ive been playing Layonara Online for a couple of days. I am a necromancer. To be a necromancer I want to cast negative energy ray more than magic missle. (So I can be different from the other mages). But I had to smash a mirror to beable to cast the spell...and each mirror can only be used once and cost like 45 GP each...
Personally I feel that this can limit my spells and stop me becoming a potentional necromancer, I think the idea of componants is brilliant, just I can't cast the spells to be a necromancer.
So maybe you could edit the componants a bit?
This is my view, I would like to know other people's view please.

I think you can craft mirrors. Not sure, but I think. That may help a bit.

Another problem with this (and shield of faith) spell components is that they're big (2x2) and not stackable.
Ideally a non-eschew caster should be fesible, however, with large unstackable spell components its really not, due to the limitation on the number of inventory squares every character has. Since you'd have to devote like a page of your inventory to the components for one spell to be able to get through only a couple battles using that spell regularly
There are feats you can take to do away with the need for components (see the player handbook for descriptions) but in my mind they should be an optional convenience, not neccessary.
Going to post this on the project team forums. Hopefully we'll have stackable mirrors and holy text to put in next update :)
However, this doesnt do much for the price issue. Things are cheaper in larger cities. The hlint merchants are almost the most expensive merchants out there. If you look around a bit in some larger cities I'm sure you'll find a more reasonable price.
I also have no idea if mirrors are craftable. Most components are either craftable or harvestable. Most, its easier to just buy, some even cheaper if you consider the market price of the materials needed to craft them (i.e. powdered silver.) But almost all there is a way to get them without buying them at the store.
The only way I've seen to get small mirrors other than at the store is they show up in lower level drops. They may be under the tinkers toolbox, or tinkers device.. hmm, guess I'll go look.

It's feasible, I have a non-eschew caster, of course, you cannot take tons of stuff with you, gotta do inventory management and stock up regularly. The way I see it, I'd rather have three other magic feats than those three eschews.
Anyway, my 2 cents on non eschew casters :)

I'll bet you dont regularly use negative energy ray.
Anyway, perhaps "more fesible" is a better way to say it.

I do actually use negative energy ray, alot! Due to im a necromancer...
But I've discovered a feat that ignores all componants for the first three spell levels - thank God!

Eskew I and II are good. The eskew III is optional.

Its Eschew.
Askew is also a word... but.. not a feat.

Edit: Gesundheit ;)

I play Llunieninque Artuile'rosse, who is a level 19 Enchantress who only uses Eschew Materials I. The lower level Mages of course have a great difficulty early on in the game because of certain spell componets having a high cost, size, or weight. But once you make your way to the middle levels you will be able to handle just about anything.

My level 20something cleric doesn't have any of those feats.
It's the price I pay for glory.
Heh.
I usually have 2 or 3 bags full of the holy pages or whatever, I don't remember what they are called now. But they are big and can only fit 6 in a bag.
Course.. clerics mostly just have thier holy symbol. But still... not all casters need to take those feats.
I have a level 10 mage that does just fine without them too.

Eschew III is really not necessary to take.
Very few(if any) circle 9 spells have expensive
components wich are consumable. Circle 7-8 have a bit
more, but not enough to be too troublesome for a caster
of that lvl.
Eschew I and II are really nifty in my opinion. But then
again, I don't care much about having the best spells
and such, through increased DCs and Spell penetration.
