Rushing the server will cause it to crash.
-
The oblivious questions:
How do you rush the server?
How can I prevent it?
-
Rushing the server is logging in as soon as it comes up and while it is loading, so the best way to prevent that is... waiting about 5 or 10 minutes so it can load. :)
-
*nods* yep, just be patient is all we can really ask.
-
Yeah, people used to be pretty good about this back when we crashed a lot more regularly heh. Practice I guess. Seen a lot more rushing lately.

I take the downtime to hunt for munchies. And...you know. Watch the server status page like a hawk. (Empty...! Empty...! One person! ...Fifteen people! ...Empty!)
Yeah. I said munchies. What're you going to do about it?
-
Mmmmmm ... munchies ....
I guess I am kinda guilty of this too, though I try not to. Maybe munchies will help?

Munchies always help. I just wait until there are atleast 10 or 15 people on the server and the ping is below 250 before I log in.
-
Don't look at the ping, but I take it low ping is good. (yeah don't know what ping is)
Always wait for the 10 people, on west server at least.
-
the ping is how long it takes for your machine to send out a pulse, for it to get to the server, and for it to come back.
-
Talan, is there a way to check ping on a mac? Would I just need to start the shell up and use the lines mentioned above?

Yeah, I've done it before. I'm acctually thinking the unix commands are the same... ping and tracert followed by the adress. Open the Terminal and just type it in.
