I have a Suggestion often in the game I will hear players talk about bad smells
You stink
Or its skinks of Bat dropping in here.
As Paladins and such like to smell nice and of course the ladies would love such a luxury good
I was wondering if Perfumes could be made available for crafting, the raw mistrials are all ready in game
Such as flowers and fruit, incenses and such like. Would it not be fun to have Perfumes of a kind available?
They could add to CHA for a time or just be nice to smell.
Just an Idea
-
The problem with adding Cha for a time is it will gives Bards, Clerics, Paladins, and Sorcerers a little boost with their spells and abilities effectiveness. +2 Cha to a Paladin is another round with his loverly abilities. To Bards and Sorcerers it's another +1 to the DC of their spells.
However much we'd want it to be for RP it would definatly be used by people for other purposes. There's just no way around it. That being said, perhaps a bonus to Persuade would work. It's an interesting idea.
-
Heh, not a bad idea really.
Maybe they shouldn't give just cha though... but social skills. Sure I could see some high level ones give +2 cha or something.
Still though, you can just RP perfumes anyway without having an actual item. Not really that necessary I think, but the idea is nice. Just if we had a way for people to notice what kind of perfume someone had used... heh.

I can just see it now. Players will have their own perfume lines.
"Have you smelled that new perfume, Acacea #5. It's the rage in Hlint these days!" :)

I like this idea. Someone smelling nice being more apt to successfully persuade someone to do something for them, and such. A natural fragrance that is slightly distracting to increase bluff chance, etc.

Well, just take a potion of eagle's splendor and say it's perfume.
Although, it might be a bit weird if you start drinking the perfume.... well, you'll have a nice breath. :)

Original recipe for perfume
Animal Fat: animal or whale
Flower extracts, common flowers: poppy, lotus and corsanthemum. The latter, also kept bugs away.
Herbal extracts, like licorice root and pine resin
Olive oil, scented with rosehip, was sprayed on the audience during events at the colliseum. The same oil was used in the process of body scraping in the Roman bathhouses.
Perfumeries were also part of the making of incense.
Instead of animal fat, they used camel dung.

The Idear is for a crafterbull item that would act as a
1: An aid of some kind to some skill or other
2: A luxury good (like the food stuffs) in game
3: Just plain fun
4: After being down the Crip/underdark/Swerers/mines it would be good game play to freshen up befor heading back into town.
5: There are so many words based on smell good and bad as part of common langwage
there are potions but Perfume is some thing difarent
when I click on a PC it would be cool after the
STR incresed
HP decres
ETC..
to have
Smells Nice (Rose Hip)

Instead of +2 to Charisma, which would be overpowered and abused, it should instead be +2 to Persuade, or some sliding scale based on the quality of the perfume. This would of course limit its practicality and make it mostly an RP item.
We could have a lot of fun and make the scale work exactly backward on races like Half-orcs, orcs, half-giants and such...In other words, the really fancy stuff would make them physically ill and run away from you, while the squeezings of a dead skunk carcass would get them do do whatever you wished.
*groans* I just realized I'd have to make this work....
Nevermind :)

How about...
a Women's perfume that creates an aura which causes -2 to every man's will save within a certain radias..
hehe..
LV
-
Maybe even an aura of unearthly grace... heh.
Evil, evil scriptwork there though...

I love the Idar of Perfumes working back would for Orc and half gaints
That would be so cool, hard I know to sript but so much fun. I know of so may bard players in game
and Drow who would see smell as an intrgel part of There Art and politcis.
Drow Females would see Perfumes as part of the power of drow males.
Shame theres no sudution skill.

This Idear came about from game play
in game a PC called Ayla helped my Half Gaint Spugly Fuglet
Even thow I have payed off the det I have been giveing Ayla
gifts when ever we meet. Gems, and Flowers I have worked throw
but I was thinking it would be very cool to give Ayla some Perfume
Now I am just one player many but I got to thinking and
well this post set is the resolt.

Gonna have to hunt whales for the oils needed to make perfumes.. This sin't going to end well with Druids and sea evles... and The jedi are gonna feel this slaugter when it starts.
-
i dig the idea of perfume as a craftable item...... and the jedi can go to you-know-where..... :)

No offence, but I using good smelling perfumes to drive off Orc, Half-Orcs, Half-Giants, etc is a terrible idea. What a character likes or dislikes should be up to the player RPing the character and not some stereotype. If this idea does get implemented it would tottaly ruin a the way I chose to RP my character, as I'm sure others. Now if you were talking about NPCs then forget about what I just said. :)
-
Yeah...well it was kind of a joke, given those races' propensity toward smelling bad in general. Aw nevermind....
-
Ah, okay. Well nevermind what I said then. ;)

TAlking into count all thats been said
The idear seem to have stuck the Perfumes add or detract from
Will or Perswade or Intimedate (a female pc could have fun with this)
There would have to be 2 kinds of Perfumes
For Male PCs and for Female with the afect being on the opaset sex.
(ok I know gay pc will have to sort out NwN having only Male/female and with all the inplays)
But if we just stick to the two sexis then this could be fun.
So then - levels afecter
Perfume 1: +1/+2 Pserwade
Perfume 2: -1/-2 Will save
Perfume 3: +1/-2 Perform (bards)
Perfume 4: -1/-2 Consentration
Perfume 5: -1/-2 V perswation
So is we going to gets Perfumes from tha masters of code :o)
-
I like the idea of perfumes, think it would have excellent roleplay value and could be used on and off quests as in game gifts.
Having said that I think perfumes should be luxury items in game, difficult to craft (skill wise) and expensive to buy. The bottles should however come with several charges (much like a bottle of perfume).
If roses were added to the CNR list we could use rose water as the basis for all perfumes the same way aloe functions for curative potions.
-
Yep I agre with that they should be luxury good and hard to make
this could be done v complex resapys or using hard to find CHA
as all the raw mistrials are all ready in game.
The muliy apilcation froma bottel is good.
I know this is ovfus but there should be 2 things which end the afect
1: Time
2: Going some thing smelly or getting very wet
I dont like the idar of Perfumes being counters for bad smells
it would get to complcated if you could counter a skunk say with a Perfume.
(players could RP the fact they that dont smell that bad smell cuz they have Perfume on)
Thats not how they work at all Perfumes are far more sutel they afcat the opaset side
