Presently some Inn's have Bartenders... yet you go to the Innkeeper to buy drinks.
Any chance we can get the bartenders to sell booze... or just remove the bartenders I suppose.
thanks
Feel free to move this thread to where ever... this seemed as good of a place as any.

Orth hinted at a new purpose he had for the bartenders that was going to be in one of the updates a while ago... but that wasn't long before he left. Maybe there's something around somewhere that didn't get put in? Or maybe the idea got sidelined then never got made.
Anyway, I wouldn't propose merely taking the ales from the inkeeper and giving them to the bartender. No sense in having two merchants sell what one easily could (without overflowing pages'n'such, which the inkeepers dont have a problem with.)
Unless Orth had a cool idea that hasn't been made/put in yet (if it just hasnt been made, send it to the project team :) I don't have a problem with just removing the bartenders. Most innkeepers were their own bartenders in small inn's anyway.

Bah ... just spend your time at the Leilon Arms anyway ...
But yeah .... if there is no purpose, scrap them.

Besides, the bartenders have a bad habit of sleeping on the job. Fire 'em all I say.

Seems to me like it would be an unnecessary amount of merchant scripts floating around then, as everyone will still go to the Innkeeper out of habit for a while. I think it's fine how it is.

Some GMs grab them for RP purposes. And they
are much better for that than the Innkeeps
who keep spouting welcomes at everyone who
arrives.

I think maybe the bartenders traded their ale for names. In a lot of the less-visited inns, the bartender has a name, while the other guy is just "Innkeeper." At the Traveler's Choice, there's Castane. Zachard at the Mithril Anvil. Johan at the Stagger Inn. Mr. Hand at the Lusty Wench. And "Innkeeper" in them all to look on at the barkeep and the hostess in envy of their nameliness.

There are indeed a couple of Bartenders who sell a large variety of drinks. I just didn't want to take the others out for the RP purposes of a GM quickly grabbing the barkeep.
