Tarantism - An urge to overcome melancholy by dancing
I'm having trouble with this one. Not the word. The concept of dancing to overcome anything is outside the boundaries of my reality.
I have a calendar of "forgotten" English words and phrases, archaic stuff that has either changed into a new word or has just stopped being used. Here are a few I liked:
month's mind - an eager wish or longing
scraffle - When loose change is flung among a mob, they are said to scraffle for it.
quiffing the bladder - drawing the long hair over to hide a bald pate
take a flourish - to enjoy a woman in a hasty manner, with her clothes on or without going to bed
byblow - an illegitamate child
antepenultimate - pertaining to the last syllable but two (so the antepenultimate syllable in 'antepenultimate' is 'ul')
manurement - cultivation or improvement
