I had my first (ever) experience of Layonara last night with my character Sally Brambleleaf, I had great fun (even though I did get killed by a skunk at one point!) and met some friendly characters who showed me around (Jharg, Rugo and Angela mostly - thanks guys) and helped me to gather some crafting materials.
Anyway, the point of this posting is that I'm a bit confused about some of the aspects of crafting. I'm hoping to make my own shortbow (just a hickory one initially, though I want to improve to a stage where I can make better bows) and later some arrows. The requirements for a (hickory) shortbow are a hickory "short stave" and a bowstring. However when I tried to work a branch of hickory (I managed to acquire some sandpaper - more on this later...), the only options seem to be for a "shaft" (normal or arrow) or a "plank", not a "stave". I thought that "shaft" seemed the most likely candidate for a bow stave, and successfully made one - but this seemes to not be the right thing for a bow stave (I've basically made a quarter staff) - do I need to create a plank instead or something else??

there is another thing in there, its kinda hidden i think, i was looking for it once, someone that knows more will post and let you know, or you can just look harder... i know it is there.

The short bow stave is one of the recipies under lumber, but it might be on page 2 so you would have to pres "7 - next" (or something similar) one of the options on the bottom of the page.
