This a thank you note to Vyris for the excellent work he did on my CDQ. He put a lot of time and effort into planning it and it showed. I especially like how he used a great deal of narrative to describe our surroundings. He added a couple of chapters to the backstory of my character, Klaug. I fear I wore out my dicebag though; I may have to get a new one.
I also want to thank Gulnyr and Doc for their help and the excellent way in which they RP’ed their characters.
*Stands and applauds

It was great work. And it was fun. And it was very hard.
Thanks a lot.
(And it was very hard.)
-
Thank you Vyris!
your work to create monsters and levels to tell the story of Klaug's past was top notch work!
and yes... it was hard... very very hard... especialy those spot rolls.. and listen rolls... and Int rolls... oh and the wisdom was hard too... not to mention the dex... I thought my high of a 6 was good...
I had a blast!
-
So Gul...was it hard? Just wondering. :)
-
Well.. between the monsters and the absentminded sorcerer... he had a hard time
-
I'm glad you guys had a good time, the challenges were tough, but... *grins* There are always alternate methods to achieve the same goals. It's too bad things turned out the way they did, I would have enjoyed the final confrontation, and I think you would have enjoyed the epilogue.
Theres always next time!

No. It was very hard.
Never, ever have there been so many spiders. Ever. Not even in that one cave. One minute someone's grandmother is blowing up on you, and the next one of the other guys is burning down your ladder - no turning back. You manage to find a way out just to find yourself in some ocean of pudding. Acidy pudding. And then the traps, and being eaten. At least Gulnyr was dead first. And now I have to buy a new rope - almost forgot that.
The whole thing pushed the limits of resources and abilities. We ran low on healing and magic. It was rough.
And don't forget the spiders. I have a stronger sense of just how many one billion is now.

*laughs* Love the description you give it. It does indeed sound frightening, but in a good way. :)

Good job Vyris.

spiders.... so ... many... spiders...
I lost almost all of my scrolls
everytime I rolled a 1 ... a spider had lunch
I lost a lot of scrolls
Weston rolled so badly he failed these:
Spot roll to see a path
Spot roll to see a giant flying creature
Listen roll to hear said creature
Listen roll to hear it's roar
Spot roll to see ambushing creaturs
Listen roll to hear said creatures
Spot roll to see spiders
Dex roll to avoid traps... all of them
Wis roll to avoid sleeping in spider infested house
Int roll to avoid blowing up canopic jars
(yes I hosed Klaug down with dear ol mum.... and pa ... no.. I didn't learn after the first one)
Int and Wis roll to avoid pointing out the painfuly obvious
Will roll to avoid possesion... Grandma is mean... she hates ladders
Spot roll to see writing on the wall
Listen roll to hear a thousand spiders in the next room
Spot roll to see a pudding
Spot roll to see a trap
Dex roll to avoid a fireball from Vyris
My successes?
Incredible spot roll of 20 to see a gaint tapestry with Klaug's family names
Incredible dex roll of 20 to (literaly) waltz trough a set of deadly traps
-
*chuckles* oh my, that was a lot of fun tortu... I mean entertaining Weston :)

@Doc - *laughs hysterically* Note, I am not laughing at your...failures...merely the way you so succinctly listed them...
Is succinctly even the right word there? *sctatches head and walks away*
-
my poor poor fairy...
tried to disarm a trap... got bumped into the trap
exploded in a shower of blood
all to the sound of a DM laughing
*sniff*
-
You will notice that even though it was my CDQ that ended in failure that I was gracious in defeat. Only praise for Vyris, no complaints…
No complaints about the roughly one billion spiders with poison practically oozing from their bodies…
No complaints about the traps around every corner…
No complaints about Weston blowing up poor grandma…
No complaints about so much pudding that I expected Bill Cosby to appear with a spoon…
No complaints about the baby rock lizard (surrounded by traps, mind you) that ended up eating us…
…Nope, no complaints at all. Only praise…only praise…
Oh, and next time, I’m bringing a frickin’ army. ;)
-
Man, I loved that fairy blowing up. I had forgotten that. It was half an hour later and I got a tell: "I'm still laughing about the fairy."
And I'm not complaining, I'm stating it was very hard.
(One billion spiders. And each one fifty gallons of instant death poison in a crunchy candy shell.)
-
hehe.
Perhaps if you had paused for a moment to consider why there was a rock lizard, in a corner, surrounded by traps then things would have turned out differently.
Charge!
...
....
.....
Run away!!
*Vyris climbes up on his valient pudding steed*
Yah! Gurt!
Go! Gurt!
Hya!

Death wards and waitin' is fer Panzies!

I've never felt so utterly useless in my entire gaming experience... every thing
and I mean EVERYTHING I did.... was a disaster

I dont think weston would be weston if you were allowed to roll number other than 1 and 20.
