Yes, everyone can, with any one handed sword. Just take the required feats:
Two Weapon fighting, Improved two weapon fighting, Ambedexterity (or something like that) Just make sure they are light swords.

I believe he was refering to the fact that druids can't use metal.

I am actually not sure about the answer, so I will not write anything right now

This question comes up now and then, or at least one like it.
A druid's weapon choices are not about training...they are about oaths.  The druid may carry a scimitar as part of those oaths, which is a pretty decent sword-like weapon.  Not the best, not the worst, but it works, and you should consider it strongly over the longsword.  It has a better crit range, too. :)
For a druid to break dogma and carry a longsword, regardless of elven lineage, is questionable.  At best, if there was some deep RP reason for it, then maybe. Otherwise no....you shouldn't.  Burning a weapon feat to take a non-druidic weapon is just poor, IMHO, and if this were my own PnP game, such a druid would be docked heavily for it (i.e. loss of powers).
Now...a case could be made for a wood elf druid to carry a bow, as the bow is a deep part of wood elf culture.  But longswords....not so much.
  Food for thought.

Yep. Pretty much what Dorganath said.:)

Luna carries a scimitar as well as a bow which she uses often.

Druid oaths also exclude bows... this is another case of deciding whether breaking oath fits your RP.

I believe there is a quite good number of druids
using bows on layo.

Just an observation.

you can, but even if you do, you would still need to come up with a good reason on why you went in that direction and have gone against your oath.

Not likely since druids are not allowed to multiclass freely. This means that the minute you take your fighter level you wonät be able to take any druid levels. Well it is possible but it will be near impossible to accomplish this. I mean who needs a druid who already betrayed his oaths?

On the other hand, you may play a fighter who will become a druid.

If I'm not mistaken, once you leave your druid life behind, you can not pick it up again.  It is against server rules to take a level of druid, then a level of fighter, then another level of druid.  You can take druid as high as you want and then start leveling as a fighter, but you can not take another druid level ever again.  I suppose you could RP yourself as a fighter that then starts taking druid levels... ultimately breaking your oaths and taking fighter levels again, but I don't think that would be allowed.

That is correct.  You can only freely multiclass between a Druid and Shifter.  There are no exceptions, per server rules.
As for the observation of the number of bow-wielding druids on the server....well, they're probably elves, and as such get the feat for free, regardless of class.  In my own personal opinion, this is a violation of dogma and oaths for druids, with the one possible exception of the wood elf druid, whose entire culture invests heavily in the use of the bow. As I said, if it were me and a PnP campaign, there'd be problems.
Zen Archery...yes....but for druids, that applies to their use of a sling, not a bow.
That elf druids in NWN are able to use bows is either an oversight, mistake or a calculated move on behalf of Bioware, but it is not in keeping with 3rd Edition D&D rules.
