*glares at pan for writing this in red*

Wow! Way to go Sox!!!
My niece is probably swearing way more than she should at her age right about now...she's a die-hard Cubs fan. Earlier tonight, she was rooting for the Astros. :o
-
congrats to the sox's.. been a long time for them.

The fanfare is depleting the worlds supply of available bandwidth at an unacceptable rate.
-
Yeah, way-to-go W-Sox. I admit I was rooting for the Astros, mainly because I like Texas teams, but Chicago obviously deserved it. Have to say though, those were four amazingly close games. Still tired from game 3.

*mumbles something about stupid, yankee, Texas, and baseball*
;) ;)
-
Just out of interest, how many different countries participate in this "World Series" you talk of? ;)
-
There is active recruitment all around the world. Heh the coach of the team that won is from Venezuela, so you can do the maths. However it takes place in the united states as it is the only country that actively supports the sport in an international level. So yeah its pure semantics, but thats just a silly argument.

So one country then? I see... :)
-
Nah not really. Many of the athletes come from other countries A LOT of them. The only other baseball cup that includes international teams is the one done for the preparation to the olympics.
The athletes that participated in Major League baseball come from AAA and AA teams all around the world. So while its held in the united states it doesn't make it less international. Again.. semantics.

*grins* i guess most professionel sports leagues have players from lots of contries.

Indeed, for example the English Premier League has football (or "soccer" (sic)) teams which have a great many players from all over the world, but its hardly the World Cup. Sorry, I will stop baiting now... ;)
-
If I am not mistaken, then baseball was taken out of the olympic program this year....or was it only womens baseball *shrugs*
Nevertheless, good job....eeeerm *looks up* oh yes, White Sox! :)
-
Soccer sucks too! hehehe err yeah did I just say that out loud?

And I live in Texas and can not be happier that Houston lost. Being from San Francisco I extremely dislike Houston Astros. Good job CWS!!!

Er... Texas hasn't been an independent country since before the American Civil War AFAIK...
Canada

So all these countries have teams that participate in the World Series? I thought only US teams played. Which teams from Cuba play in the World series?
-
No no no. What they are saying is that PLAYERS come from all these countries, not teams.

I rest my case :)
BTW I hope people aren't taking my comments too seriously - I just can't help finding it funny that there is a "World Series" with teams from only one country (or is it two - does Canada have any teams in the World Series?)! :)
Congratulations to the White Sox, though!
-
the world serrieis is a single serries game between the american league and the National League essentually the superbowl of baseball, and yes unless something has changed i believe canada has at least one team, at least they used to have a torronto team

Who says Texas ain't its own country? We can fly our flag just as high as any of you other countries can, so there. ;)
(In truth, because Texas is the only state that was once recognized by the U.S., and other countries, as a sovereign nation, Texas is the only state within the U.S. that can fly it's flag at the same height as the U.S. flag. Yeehaw.)
-
The Northern Division of The Big Twelve Athletic Conference (college sports, fyi, for all of you who are outside the U.S.) will one day rise to it's former glory and put you Texans in your place! Heed my words: your time is limited. ;)
-
Go MU Tigers!!!!!
-
*grins* Bring It On You Big 12 Yanks!
We Texans aren't known for brains, but, by golly, we can sure hit hard.
