Title: Darksoul essence

Maybe there's only supposed to be a chance to get this, but the first character I made got the essence from the Lesser Darksoul quest his first time slaying him.

Now with a different character a friend and I have killed him three times together on separate occasions and have yet to see it.


Is this a problem, or do I need to just keep trying?

It's good, it dropped. Mission accomplished and all that.

You might have looted the corpse before the Essence had time to spawn, so perhaps you should wait for 10 seconds or so, before you loot it, or else the corpse will vanish.

  Yep, it takes a few seconds to appear, so wait like 10 seconds before looting the corpse and it'll be there.
