Last night, I was on for a total of 20 minutes. In that time, I picked up 2, count'um, 2 death tokens. While that sucks, it's not the reason I'm posting. I was wondering if the script code that does the Save vs. Soul Mother is in any way dependent on the location of the death or the creature causing the death? I've heard that if you are near a Bloodwell, you always get a token, so maybe it's possible? Or maybe that's not true, or implemented by GM.
Here's the reason I ask:
DT 1 -- Don't remember
DT 2 -- Don't remember
DT 3 -- Goblins, helping someone who was in a lot more trouble than I thought (and lvl 3)
DT 4 -- Griffin at NE Mistone location (you know the one)
DT 5 -- Griffin at same spot
DT 6 -- Griffin at same spot
I've died many times on two continents, and only received 3 death tokens. Plus 3 more from the griffins. That hellish death from above seems to give me a token every time. I'm only 7th level, so it's amazing (though, yes, I know, not statistically impossible) that my bad rolls would _exactly coincide_ with death by griffin.
So again, is there any possible way that the script could know about the griffins secret pact to deliver my soul to the Soul Mother?

There are a few areas where a DT is automatic if you die. However, unless you're in the vicinity of a bloodpool, this probably won't happen.
Otherwise, the percentage is the same...1% chance per level...regardless of where you are or what killed you.

I think you're just very unlucky, hehe.

Thanks. That's what I thought. I think I'm going to go write a bard song about griffons. And maybe take Favored Enemy -- Griffon the next chance I get. Or maybe, just maybe, I could stop going to a place where I know there's a monster that I know will kill me and most likely give me a token. There's always that...

count yourself lucky, my highest level character is 8th level, has 8 DTs, 3 of them I got in 2 days, and two of them in under 1 minute.
-
Weston has a roll of 11 vs Soulmother... now his level is only 10... is this correct?
-
You have to roll above your level. So if you're level 10, a roll of 1-10 will get you a DT, a roll of 11 or better will not.

Hehehe nice nice....my highest is 10....he has 4 DTs i think..i dont know how, i rp him to rush into battles... My second highest at 8, nearly 9 has 0 DTs but then she's a bit of a conservationist.

I can vouch for the griffons not always causing death tokens. When Esi was around 5th through 7th level wizard, a strong breeze would kill him. The griffons ate him several times with no tokens.

having that much trouble dying on the roads, eh? sounds to me like you need to hire a mercenary to escort ya. *grins and winks*

. And maybe take Favored Enemy -- Griffon the next chance I get.
Now that would be cool.
