Title: Ranger Spell Components - Need Holy Symbol to Cast Aid

Just going through my list of bugs I've noted in the last couple weeks... thats what the flurry of reports is about.

Ranger's need a holy symbol to cast aid.  While this is fine for my character who I wouldn't mind rping that she gets her spells from her goddess (is that possible?)  Ranger's dont need to follow a diety to get their spells, so this seems inappropriate for most rangers.

Should rangers need components at all?  Their spells are not really the strength of the class.  

Anyway, this is more a question than a bug since nothing is going "wrong" per se.

Druids need a holy symbol as well. And while they also do not need to follow a deity, I've always looked at it like it was a "focus" or a symbol of their oaths and dedication to nature.
  Now...I'm not saying it's right or wrong, only that it's not specific to Rangers.

Is this the only spell?  I could add a Ranger type Aid spell if it was the only one.

Ranger spell Grease(1) needs oil component.
  Ranger spell Sleep(2) needs sand component.
  Not that I use either, just saw that when I played around.
  Not sure about level 3 or 4 spells as I dont have them yet.

Neutralize Poison (3) requires a stick of charcoal.

Freedom of Movement(4) requires a twisted leather belt.

yes, there is a ranger spell which requires a holy symbol.A lv 3 ranger spell.

Yes, obviously.  Thats the subject of this thread.

Anyway I think aid is the only one you need a holy symbol for (ranger spells.)

Also, I've been thinking, Rangers get the spell Sleep as a level 2 spell.  They get Level 2 spells at either Ranger level 8, or 10 depending on wisdom.  Since everything with more than 4 HD is immune to this spells, it doesnt make a whole lot of sense.

Maybe it could be swapped for Ironguts?  Not a powerfull spell, but could be usefull sometimes, and makes more sense for hardy rangers than sleep anyway.

Aid has been changed to "Ranger's Valor" for Rangers which does the exact same thing but does not require a holy symbol.

Your suggestion on Sleep should be posted somewhere else.
