Title: Question on playtimes
Post by: Riodrian on November 22, 2005, 05:41:00 PM
Greetings!

I just bought NWN after a few years of putting it off.  Just finally couldn't resist the Diamond edition.  Needless to say, I am loving it after only a few days.  I have been looking around online for a good persistant world that is roleplay-oriented and this is the best I have seen so far.  The community here seems well-formed and the staff takes the time to work out issues.

Anyway, on to my question:  I live in the CST (Texas..heh).  Except for weekends, when I can play anytime, I woudl only be able to play after midnight due to work.  Is there a decent "overnight" crowd that plays?  Or is it like most games I have tried and somewhat barren?

between 3 and 5am for you it'll be pretty slim.  Its funny though, it seems to really only drop real low anymore during those two hours due to all the people in different timezones.

And by pretty slim, i mean somewhere between 3-8 likely.

heh, I remember when it was a "good crowd" when there were 12 people on at a time... but I'm sure there are some that can harken further back than that.

Edit: oh, check the server status page at time when you would likely play.  its a good indicator of how many people will usually be on during that time, unless theres a DMed quest going on atm, in which case there will be more.

Having only a few people on the server at some times isn't a bad thing, it allows you to get some work done such as crafting etc.  Otherwise you get stuck talking to people or travelling here there and everywhere.  Not that I am complaining about those things  :)

Let me put it this way, I have never seen the server empty. There are DM's that run quests that start at 4 to 6 am CST. And if thats not good for you, well I live in CST and am often on after midnight.;)

Great!

Not that I mind it being barren, but sometimes you want to actually want to interact with non-scripted people.  hehe

Appreciate the replies.  Time to work on the character I suppose.  Decisions, decisions...

These numbers are the players online on the West server, where you'll start out. The times are GMT. So, I think CST is GMT-6, so 6 am GMT is midnight for you. If I did the time zone math correctly, this is what Layonara saw during your specified target time the past few nights.
