Sometime before the New Year (Pacific Time) there will be an update. There will be a new hak and tlk to download. Though they shouldn't be more than 15mb. I'll get those uploaded as soon as they are finalized.
At that time the server will be down for an hour or so depending on test results.
I will be detailing some of the changes in this thread. So keep your eyes open.

Crafting System Revamped
The Crafting System has been significantly altered from both the backend and some of the functionality.
- The recipes are now dynamically loaded from the DB, so they can be editted/added/deleted while the server is running.
- All players must possess a Crafting Badge of Certification or an Advanced Badge to use appropriate devices. These are for sale on the Crafting Vendor for around 500-750gp and 21500-32250gp depending on which town you buy it.
- Players can now only craft a max of 1 item at a time. This has been set system wide, if there are arguments for certain items being able to be made in multiples. start an individual thread in Bug Reports (DON'T POST IN SOMEONE ELSE'S THREAD). Currently there are exceptions for missile weapons, melting nuggets, potions, essences, food and drink, oils, some gemcrafting, infused gems, scribing inks, molds, some tailoring, some alchemical and we're examining others.
- Exceptionals now work like a Critical does. If you roll a 20, you then roll again and must beat the DC of the craft to get the exceptional, otherwise it's just the normal one.
- Speed has been upgraded, menus should not be as slow after the server's been up a good while.
This is for information purposes, if you have a concern, create another topic. Please keep in mind we thought and discussed these changes for quite a long time.

New Look for Elemental Protections:
One of the most guilty hogs of everyone's video capabilities is the elemental protections. Those glowing and bouncing balls of light covered in a party can crunch NWN to it's knees. Thak has provided us with an awesome new look which is hopefully a lot less laggy. And yep it rotates. Check it out!

Major Upgrades to Thirst System
Many people contributed to this change. Thak did some spiffy new bottles for juices and really nice custom ones done for the alcohols. Talan and Lalaith spent a great deal of time on assessing the DCs for alcohol, assessing the proper charges for drinks (ie more drinks from a bottle of wine then an ale), doing the same for the nutritional values (the quench factor), and also a few custom effects for certain drinks. G-452 also helped with the various histories/descriptions for each alcohol, make sure to read the descriptions!
- All Juices, Alcohol and Milk, Empty Juice/Brewing Bottles stack in 10s
- Bartenders now sell beverages, not the innkeeper
- Adjusted Quench Factor based on ingredients
- Adjusted Drink Charges
- Adjusted Prices
- Adjusted Alcoholic DCs to beat, and the effect on failure
- Added a couple well stocked barkeeps in a few remote bars who sell all beverages (they don't sell infinite)

Wow, you guys have done some awesome work!

Props to Lal as well on the drink descriptions!!!
and Props to Talan for fixing me not knowing how to spell!!!
-
You'll tell us half an hour before ,right?
-
You guys never cease to amaze me! Keep up the good work!

Clerics now have a Cantrip "Divine Relation". This lets them know how their god feels about someone else. Works on anyone, living or dead.

With a library of spell fx of various colours I found on the vault I decided to apply it to our Deity System. This is how it works. Each god has been assigned one of the following colours, based on their symbols and what they represent.
- PURPLE
- BLUE
- CYAN
- GREEN
- YELLOW
- ORANGE
- RED
The colours are so:
- Aeridin - Yellow
- Aragen - Cyan
- Az'atta - Red
- Baraeon Ca'Duz - Green
- Beryl - Orange
- Branderback - Green
- Corath - Red
- Deliar - Yellow
- Dorand - Orange
- Folian S'pae - Green
- Goran - Yellow
- Grand - Red
- Grannoch - Orange
- Ilsare - Red
- Katia - Green
- Kithairien - Cyan
- Lucinda - Blue
- Mist - Cyan
- Prunilla - Orange
- Pyrtechon - Orange
- Rofirein - Yellow
- Shadon - Purple
- Shindaleria - Blue
- Sulterio - Red
- Toran - Yellow
- Vierdri'ira - Purple
- Vorax - Red
- Xeen - Purple
The following spell fx now are coloured based on your deity:
- Implosion
- Protection from Evil
- Protection from Good
- Death Ward
- Spell Resistance
- Ability Score Buffs (Bulls Strength etc)
- Shield of Faith, Mage Armor, Shield
- Haste
- A couple others that are used in a lot of places
(http://orth.ca/deitycolour1.jpg)(http://orth.ca/deitycolour2.jpg)(http://orth.ca/deitycolour3.jpg) (http://orth.ca/deitycolour4.jpg) (http://orth.ca/deitycolour5.jpg)(http://orth.ca/deitycolour6.jpg) (http://orth.ca/deitycolour7.jpg)(http://orth.ca/deitycolour8.jpg) Mages can use an item called Censer of Arcane Devotion. This new item is available at temple vendors for around 1500g and is a one time only use which sets the devotion of your arcane magics to your deity. This in turn will give you the FX coloured to your deity. Plus, your Summons become the ones based on the Deity, the Clerical ones. If the spell is cast from a mage/sorc/bard who have not used this Censer, the colours default to the original Bioware colours. Druids and Rangers spells are Deity based as well, if they have no Deity then it defaults to Green. Paladins and Clerics spells follow their Deity's colour.

Wow that is very nice...especially like the fact that Bil will be able to summon the summons of his new goddess :)
-
That rocks! The personalization to a diety is very cool!

Duuude. Now all I'm begging for is a way to make thread out of cotton...

Food Updates
Pie Usages has changed. Using the pie creates a slice (6 slices a pie), then you can eat the slice yourself or hand them out.
We've got some great new pie images and slice images done by Thak.
Also included are changes to the meat you acquire when skinning animals. It is now based on the animal you skin and gives a random amount of shanks based on the size of the creature. You can now make roasts on the Bakers Oven out of each seperate kind of meat. Bear, Beef, Boar, Deer, Hound (Canine), Feline. Pepper is for sale on the vendors for this and Butter can be made on the Farmer's Press from two Cow's Milks. Big thanks to G-452 for working this all out.

Yes, but when, WHEN!? *Cries.* I want to play around with those scribable scrolls... o.o And, of course, those haks will take a little while to download, what with all the other things bogging down my network.
-
*chuckles* Patience young Master... Or do you think Orth has given away all the goodies yet? *winks*
Kudos to all the team! Thanks fer making all these nifty things come true.

I have to ask, I bet it wasn't done, but I have to ask.
Will someone casting the spell Flame Weapon or Darkfire set their weapon on fire in the color of their diety?
I can already see the multitudes of different flames carried and cast by people.
Toranites whipping around yellow Darkfire blades, Xeenites rocking the Purple, cuz i'm all for purple, and Katians sporting green flames.
If so, then SWEET!
And if a person cast the spell on someone else, will their weapon recieve the caster's color, or the color of the weapon's holder.
If not, then okay *sighs*, we'll just have to live with the rest of the super-cool update on the horizon. ;)

That would require coloured fx for every single weapon type. That's a lot of work I'm pretty sure. Thing is it just doesn't fit with Darkfire or Flame Weapon as per the words "fire" and "flame". My vote would be to leave Flame Weapon as it is as it's arcane, but remove Darkfire altogether and call it something like Divine Heat which does Fire Damage but is coloured by deity, if we could get our only 3d guy to redo all the weapons in all the colours.

hehe, it was a thought.
Just taking what you are doing and thinking up more ideas of where they can go even further.

Well this isn't quite ready for everyone, we'll be beta testing it this go round but I want to introduce farming! Blonde (dedude) coded up this incredible system and with the help of our graphics team and G-452 the Farmland expert, we'll be unveiling this system in the next release! (http://orth.ca/farm2.jpg) INTRODUCING FARMING (still in beta, only testers will have access)
- Signs
- Signs have a conversation.
- Added an age to each product shown. (age in seasons)
- progress bar that shows the current season of the farm.
- status information for each product on the farm:
- Water
- Manure
- Weed/Bugs
- Current Condition.
- Each product is an "answer" in the conversation, and this is used to tell the farmer which product he is looking at. When you click on a line in the conversation, the product corresponding to that line will briefly light up.
- Gardens
- Added water and manure. Each plant has an inventory and you can place water and manure inside it to tend the plant.
- Added weeds. After a while weeds will begin to grow at a plant, and the farmer can equip his weed puller to remove them.
- Added an upkeep script, that will track each plant at regular intevals. Water and manure will be decreased, and if they reach 0 the overall output of the plant will decrease.
- Weed will increase, and if left untended, it will also decrease the output.
- Added an expiration check. Any product will only live a certain amount of seasons, and will be destroyed upon expiration.
- Added an owners deed. You will not be able to use the farm at all without such a deed.
- Added the corn kernels. In the harvest season, if you equip a harvesting tool and open the plants inventory, the harvest output of that plant will be computed, and an amount of corn is put into the plants inventory so the farmer can grab them.
- Orchards
- Can Harvest Trees.
- Added Young Apple Tree. For a, yet to be determined, number of seasons after planting, a tree will not give any output as it is "growing up".
- Added Apple Tree. The fully grown tree that will be harvestable once per season.
- Added bugs for trees. Works much the same way as weeds for plants. Though they wont be visible outside the sign. They are removed by "using" the tree with your hands.
- Farm vendor
- Added a farm vendor.
- Added feature for buying a farm. The vendor will list all farms for sale in his area.
- Added feature for selling a farm.
- Added a deed shredder. A placeable with an inventory. You place a deed you wish to sell inside it, and talk to the vendor. You get the option to sell the farm for the deed inside the deed shredder.
[/list]

wow! immpressive, i can't wait to take a look,

A sample of a new Drink Description
Dwarf's Head Ale
This strong ale was once only served to dwarven nobility, thus it's name. It was only placed at the King's table, the Head table. This drink first found its way to the general population at the celebration honoring the dwarven champion, Gotak Gunger. Still today when you see a table of dwarves raise their steins you will hear this declaration... "Deathward is fer pansies!"
