I have a few questions about LORE.
1. Profiles. I am connected via public cd key but if I go to Profile index under "E" only Ed the Ket is listed. Do I need to create a page in the screen under my name to get listed in the Profile Index?
2. If so...Anyone have any tips on formatting? Where can I see a page that is made in this fasion?
3. Can I delete an entry after I create it? In case I don't like the way it looks.
I know there is a preview, but I am curious as to how it is integrated into my profile.
I love this LORE area. Fantastic Job.

I also would like to alter the story line that is lited on mine too. Plus, am I supposed to be able to read other characters information besides just the general info? It eems others are able to do so. I got the password and changed it as requested, yet nothing changed. What am I doing wrong?
Otherwise I can see great potential coming up in the future with LORE. You have done a splendid job so far.

No you don't. You may want to make sure in your prefs that you do not have the hide info box checked.

Here is one that is done: http://nwn.layonara.com/OneST8 (http://nwn.layonara.com/OneST8)
And here is a lot of information on formatting: http://nwn.layonara.com/AboutMarkup (http://nwn.layonara.com/AboutMarkup)

You can always just remove what you have and save it that way. :) Then you will have just a write screen.
Hope this helps :)

That is your description as entered on your char. To change that, some one would have to alter your char. Post that request in the greivance forum I would say. :)
Plus, am I supposed to be able to read other characters information besides just the general info? It eems others are able to do so. I got the password and changed it as requested, yet nothing changed. What am I doing wrong?
You can only see other PC's general information unless they have set you as their friend. Then you would see more info about them.
I believe, in order to do that you need to have input your public cd key.
Hope this helps. :)

@Etinfall - If you've registered fairly recently it may take a while untill the profiles listing is updated, no idea how long, but I'm fairly sure it modifies those pages every X days rather than every time a new account is created.
To see what you would type into the edit box to create any given page you are looking at, there is a little bit of grey text at the top center of the footer of each page that says something like (View printable or source) Where printable and source are links to a printer friendly version and the wiki source of each page respectively.
That and the AboutMarkup pages should have you set (the markup is quite simple and easy to use barring a few things that sometimes yield unexpected results heh.)

I wondered what the friends thing was about... :)

Etinfall - 1/6/2006 10:46 PMI have a few questions about LORE.
Believe it or not, I like questions about LORE just as much as I like bug reports for LORE... and yes I really do like fixing bugs :)
1. Profiles. I am connected via public cd key but if I go to Profile index under "E" only Ed the Ket is listed. Do I need to create a page in the screen under my name to get listed in the Profile Index?
Hah! Would you look at that... a bug! It has been fixed and you now show up under E in the ProfileIndex. Wonderful yumalicious bug-breakfast! mmmm!
2. If so...Anyone have any tips on formatting? Where can I see a page that is made in this fasion?
Well, for the definitive source on the Markup supported by LORE, visit the AboutMarkup (http://nwn.layonara.com/AboutMarkup) page (note that it does take a while to load). Beyond that, it's comepletely up to you how you design your own page... after all, it is your own page!
3. Can I delete an entry after I create it? In case I don't like the way it looks.
Well, that is actually not possible. You cannot delete pages, however, you can "revert" to an older version of the page or you can just commit a page that has nothing but a "." or whatever and that'll effectively clear your page. If you really really really want your page deleted, well you'll have to ask an admin like myself or orth who do have the capability to delete pages.
I know there is a preview, but I am curious as to how it is integrated into my profile.
When you go to edit a page for the first time, the only options you have are "preview" and "cancel". Once you click the preview button it brings you to a page with a lot more buttons and such on it. *makes a note to himself to make the initial edit page more user friendly*
As for how it's integrated into your profile... it actually isn't. It's just a normal content page that you can edit because it's got the same name as your profile. Sort of a nice way for you to leave your mark on the world of Layonara. You can use it as a scratch pad, note pad, personal introduction, or whatever else suites your fancy at the time.
There is however a nice way to cross-link your profile with your user page... on your user page make a link like this: [[/Profile/Etinfall|Check out my profile page!]] and in the "Comment" section of your user preferences, put a link in like this: [[/Etinfall|Check out my user page!]] and then people will be able to get from one of your pages to the other. And yes, the comment user pref accepts all the same Markup as any other page on the site.
I love this LORE area. Fantastic Job.
Excellent! I love it too, though I may be biased! *chuckles*

great answers, thanks to you all. One more now. I have looked and tried a different number of ways of imbedding an image. here is what I have tried- http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/photos/get-photo.asp?photoid=5327 [image:/http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/photos/get-photo.asp?photoid=5327] [image:/forums/photos/get-photo.asp?photoid=5327] [[image:/http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/photos/show-album.asp?albumid=265&photoid=5327]] http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/photos/show-album.asp?albumid=265&photoid=5327 (http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/photos/get-photo.asp?photoid=5327) the last one is the way I do it in the forums. What is the proper way? Thanks for your answers again. And Onest8, I am glad to help with you appetite for bugs, and I just switched to Firefox when I read the bugs for Safari. it is almost the exact same program as safari but works fine in LORE. Thanks Etinfall

You couldn't do that before because I hadn't gotten around to it. Don't know why I stopped at just local-to-LORE images. *shrugs* Was an easy thing for me to do so here it is! View the source of my profile page to see how, or browse to the AboutMarkup page as that's always current. Auto-documentation, gotta love it.
Cheers!
