Yes, now your characters can send messages to other characters in game through LORE. If you're setup with your Public CD Key, you can click on the link at the bottom of the character's page to send them a message: ie Send Plenarius Ashaley an in-game message.". You can then select which of your characters you will be sending it as. Cost is 50gp (includes Bird Lord Royalties) which is directly removed from your character's bank vault. If you wish to send it anonymously, it will cost a little extra to bribe the falcon messenger master.
The recipient will receive their message from bird carrier the next time the heartbeat (every 6 minutes) fires when they are outdoors and not in combat. Once you receive your rolled up scroll, you use it to open it up and reveal your message, which you can read by examining and looking at the items description.
P.S. Kidding about the royalties.

I could use some help. I went to LORE and created the profile and login using my public CD key. Pretty sure I did the public key correctly. When I try to send a falcon to someone it says I have no character to send with. I am at work now not logged into the game.
Does this mean something is amiss with my public key? is there a secret? or is the system not up and running? I think its running because I got a falcon the otherday when I logged in.
Thanks
-
The systems is up and running as far as I know. *smiles* and I've been using it a lot.
First, make sure you are actually logged in. That may sound silly, but I tried to send a message the other night and got the exact message you did when I wasn't logged in. (http://nwn.layonara.com/Login)
Next check your public CD key, make sure you entered it correctly. See here. http://nwn.layonara.com/PublicCDKey
Also, the public CD key you enter has to be the last one that you've played your characters on. A friend of mine played one of their characters under my CDkey at one point, and there character will show up under my CDkey, until they plan that character on thier own. (If that makes sense) So make sure the cd key you are using is the one you use to play with.
Then it when you click to send a message, it should give you a drop down bar with your character(s) names in it, and the amount of gold they have, so you can choose the character to send the message.
Thats all I can think of - hope it helps.

WOW! What can I say. You guys ROCK!
-
What else is there to say... I love it!
-
I would use it, but it costs and i want a house.
I'll probably use it at some point though.
-
For just Tr50, I think this is the best system we have in-game.

It's 50gp a pop. :)

The trick is to recycle the birds! Just pay an extra few coppers for a return receipt. Then have the recipient reject the receipt. The bird will return without confirmation of delivery. Then you can dispute the transaction and request a new message to be sent, for free, since the first one was obviously not delivered.
And if the bird does happen to have the return receipt, well, pidgeon tastes great. Then you can claim no receipt and request another message.
Or something diabolical like that :)

Diabolical is not quite the word I would use for that...
