Title: Stone: Ooc Discussion
Post by: Yllyrryon on January 08, 2006, 10:55:00 AM
This relates to the "Liberation of Stone" preparations meeting, held earlier today:

http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/calendar/event-view.asp?eventid=1583&year=2006&month=1

Thanks to everyone who took time to attend!  We had a good number of folks at the meeting.  Many if not all volunteered to assist preparations - so further thanks in advance to each of you for these efforts.

This is a PC-initiated effort whose title explains it all.  So the primary reason I'm starting this thread is to discuss scheduling.  We can all post here to determine what will be the best times for upcoming gatherings and events.

In the spirit of minimizing our ooc communications, I don't see this thread being heavily used other than for scheduling, as I mentioned.  But if any ooc questions arise about setting up this project or moving it along, let's post them here.  You can pm me as well.

This is open to everyone.  So learn about it in-game and take it from there.  :)

Thanks again, and I hope we can turn this into a rewarding and memorable experience for all involved....while not getting ourselves completely slaughtered in the process.  *grins*

I get my work schedule a month ahead of time, and only work 3 days a week... but almost every saturday.

otherwise, I can be on at any time, and have wed, thurs, and Friday off this week...
I'll know for the next month later this week though!!!

oh, and I get home at about 1:30 PST from work...  if anyone REALLY cares.

Anybody visited Stone or the area around Stone recently?

It hasn't been scouted in a week or so.  Ael planned to do another, more detailed scouting of Stone this week sometime.

I was there this morning.  Nothing is left of the town, just bare rock and a small guard camp.  I went past it into the exterior of Sunspear Castle and found an active temple of Beryl on the far side.  I contributed a small amount, figuring they needed the help.  I went on to Lannisport, which seems quite normal.  A chartered ship to Lannisport might be a good idea, both for followers of Beryl to make a pilgrimmage, and for an attack base, if that seems appropriate.  There's nothing left in Stone to save, however.

Serissa, you did get the message right? did you climb up the ladder and look?  If you did that you should have recevied a message.

I suggest using this thread to discuss ideas for possible adventures/quests in war against Blood.  If this doesn’t work - no big deal.  But I’m visualizing this as a thread where players can discuss appealing ideas and plots pertaining to this ongoing campaign; then the gm team can see what we’re thinking about.

First off - kudos to Milo, Vyris, and the other gm’s involved in the war series.  The ones in which I have participated are Blood Striker; Blood’s Vision, King’s Sight; and Operation Blood Fall.  These were quests where many players participated with a lot of stuff happening all at once.  And the gm’s did a wonderful job keeping the action moving along.  Very well done! :)

Now pertaining to Stone, a number of players have already agreed to coordinate crafting efforts to make supplies for the upcoming assault.  I recall seventeen players attending the first meeting, most of whom returned for the second, where we more closely organized the crafting efforts.

If any gm wants logs of either meeting, please pm me, and I will copy them to you.

Out of this group, a number of players with stealth oriented characters expressed an interest in doing scouting or spying work.  The concept of scouting/spying quests has been repeatedly discussed ever since last fall - and I say this only to emphasize there is a good amount of interest among many players for such a quest.

The Players’ Handbook about Rilara suggest several interesting possibilities.  I discussed this in a recent pm to Quil, excerpts of which I post here:

Quote
If you haven't already, read the Players Handbook on Rilara and Stone. The surface village of Stone is more like a small depot, as most of the deep gnome community is under ground. Quill probably knows this. But I will have Ael go to the Great Library, so I can rp him having gained this knowledge as well.

It would pay for you to read all of the section on Rilara, if you haven't already. In Rilaran politics, the Casterly's of southwestern Rilara oppose Milara, as does the city of Point Harbor, to a lesser extent. Point Harbor benefits mostly from being on the opposite side of the continent from Milara's stronghold. The Casterly's appear devious, but might assist if a victory seems more likely.

So Rilara is not in the “iron grip” of Milara/Blood - and a quest focused on Rilaran politics or alliances would be very interesting.

Also something pertaining to the underground city of deep gnomes beneath Stone’s surface depot would be fun.

Well - these are some of my thoughts and observations. :)

Yllyrryon, Do you still have the log file you created when we met to discuss the scouting trip? I remember we talked about on the scouting trip to have 4 keys goals we wanted to accomplih on that mission. 1) to check for surviors/prisoners 2) the number of forces we face as well what kind demons they have postioned there. 3) Why they are there and where they may moved to next. 4) to find out what has happened to the Gnome undercity.

Hopifully A GM could run a small quest with the indivduals that would be involed with the the scouting trip so we could get a better understanding of what is and has taken place.

I'm sorry - I experienced a crash later that evening.  Since the crash happened at a bad time, I was focused on getting back in-game as fast as possible, so I logged back in without retrieving the log file.  :(

But your summary is accurate regarding what we discussed.

I am still intending to help move this forward.  Plenty of rl things along with Layo related stuff (several quests this week; preliminary work on Ael's next cdq; preparations for Sahala's/Ael's wedding) have taken my time for the last couple of days though.

Several have pm'ed me about joining the preparations efforts.  Please instead add your names to the list started here:

http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=22050&posts=8&start=1

It would work best if you would pm me on this for 1. setting up a time for Ael to take things you have crafted/gathered to the warehouse or another crafter; 2. ideas, questions you would rather address directly to me; and 3. if you are interested in helping taking items/supplies to the warehouse - we could use one more person helping with this.

Sahala is taking things to the warehouse as well.  Yet both she and Ael will be "away" on a honeymoon, Sunday, perhaps into Monday.

Just fyi for everyone involved/interested.

Today and tomorrow, which are 6 and 7 February, I'll should be on-line at the forums or in-game from roughly 11:30 - 19:30 cst, -6gmt.  If anyone needs Ael to pick up crafted items for delivery to one of the warehouses, pm me about setting it up during one of these time slots.  Thanks!

Note - I won't be available for collecting items during the Bloody Hands event, on 7 Feb.

A "heads up": I understand a gm is working on what will be the battle to liberate Stone; and we may be doing this as early as two weeks from now.  Likely we will have one more short meeting (*grins to Ireth and Abi*) to discuss strategy for this and final preparations of supplies.  Just fyi - stay tuned.
And many thanks to all who are consistently crafting and otherwise donating their time and resources to this and the general "war effort".

I got some PMs from some people and it looks like we will have to push the actual battle back maybe 2 weeks or more so we can actually find time to do this.. But this might be better to try and get a final head count on who is coming.
I will talk to Yllyrryon and see if we can find a better time that we can all meet.
We will post back here once we find a good time. :)

as far as dates go, I'll be hardpressed to make it anytime on the 8th of April.  And I'd really like to go as this is very important to Sahala D'lil Maethra

If the battle stays for this Saturday, I can go. I know I haven't been able to go to any of the meetings  because of my real life schedule, but Jet gave his word awhile ago that he would be there to fight for Stone. I'd love to be able to have Jet keep his word.

So if it can be done this Saturday, I'd prefer it.

I have made some re-arrangements to make this Saturday so Ireth can fight alongside Jet so would also prefer this Saturday if possible.
I do understand though that it is impossible to keep everyone happy, even me :)

This saturday would not be preferable for Luna. :)

She was there when it fell and would *really* like to be there when it is freed.

I just talk to Ael and we feel that we should go ahead as planned.. No matter if we keep pushing it back there will always be a conflict with someones availibility. Theses are one of theses times where you are da**ed if you do and da**ed if you don't.

So I do apoligize for those that cannot make it.

Also this will be ran on the west sever since the quest sever will have Milos quest going on.
