Title: Trying to find a home
Post by: on January 17, 2006, 01:01:50 PM
I just bought NWN diamond, and I want to play online on a good RP server.  Are there people on this one still often? I am usually going to be on late night(11pm est), so I don't want to be the only one on all the time.  Will I find a good home on this server? I like to RP and I am fairly new to NWN(bought the original but never played online).

Any info would be great!

Tell ya what, mate.  You read up on these here forums, read up on the player's handbook, and then make yourself a little character, see, and submit it.  One of these here fancy GM types will look over what ya got and tell ya what for and eventually get ya on the track to approval.  Then ya makes your character, roll on into the game, and I guaran-dang-tee ya you'll find yourself a home here.

I am sure someone who pays attention to such things could probably give you a decent breakdown of players online at any given hour. All I can say is that 11 PM EST is right smack dab in the middle of the prime playing time for the next 3-4 timezones west of you. Not to mention a prime time to join in on many of the GM quests, which is one of the huge things about Layonara.

Hope to see you in the lands of Layonara soon!

and, you'll love it!!!  this was my first persistant, and I haven't left...

just, no need to go find anywhere else.  When I'm on at 10 pm (11 your time) theres plenty of people on.

Just walk up and say hello-to almost anyone.  RP is great, so if you want to be a drow, orc, ect... expect to be hated.  slightly...

Ok, so I submitted a request to be approved(I think)... I got an email explaining to download the hak packs, etc. Then I registered on the site. What next? I played NWN a while ago, so I think I remember how to create a character(maybe)... :)

Once your character is approved you will be given the layo IP address and password.
You can then connect through gamespy by:
starting nwn --> Play --> multiplayer -->join internet game--> then you can direct connect with the IP and password given at char approval...
You make your character and play :)

You submit it in the Character Submissions (http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/forums/forum-view.asp?fid=47) forum. The submission guidelines are stickied there. The approval GMs will read it over and either approve it or request more information/suggest revisions to be more appropriate, etc.

You should know that this world is based on RP above everything else. This isn't just a hack and slash rpg either. You have to work very hard for your levels. If you can live with that then you'll have a grand time playing.

Ok, I submitted the character last night, waited a few hours then went to bed, how long does this usually take?

I am reading the handbook until approved :)

Most characters are approved within the first several hours. If you happen to submit your character at a time when most of the approvers are working or sleeping it might take as long as 12+ hours, depending. But rest assured new character approvals are a priority and as soon as someone has a few minutes to devote to it they will get you going.

mmmm, reading the handbook is a right fine idea while you wait, especially since you submitted a wizard and there are a number of differences between the base NWN spells and the ones on Layo...

Appears I have found my home.  Shockon was approved and will enter the lands for the first time tonight.  Just to warn you guys, his past is not great, so he is a bit untrusting!

Thanks
