I'm not a very big fan of Something Awful's forums, mostly because they're level of sadistic humor, hate and general silliness is quite a few notches above my level, but I really do like the main site.

Yesterday's special, "The 1st Annual "Best of Being a *beep*head" Awards Ceremony (http://www.somethingawful.com/articles.php?a=3601)", was great.

If you're into dark humor about "Being a *beep*head" on WoW, take a look.

By the way, the pickpocket joke was, IMHO, the best.

Edit: Removed the D...head and beep'd it.

I agree, the pickpocket emote prank was the absolute best one.

Man I'm glad to be here and far from the mental disability of MMORPG!  I was having violent flashbacks over the grammar.  Anybody who anachronizes in phonetics for ridiculously short words needs to be shot...

Speaking of which, ever notice how "GITMO" is the new media abbreviation for "Guantanamo"?

GITMO?!  WHERE'S THE I????!!!!  There's no "I" in GUANTANAMO!!!!

ugh...  linguistics are the yardstick of civilization.

About Gitmo, I think it's more of an abbreviated way of saying it.

Guantanamo -> G'tanamo -> G't'mo -> Gitmo

As for chopping perfectly good words into shorter ones without any real need, I'd say that's the natural evolution of a language.

Think "humour" to "humor", now a days the changes are much faster then they were fifteen years ago, just take a look at the evolution of standard english to "standard blog english", like or not, it's here to stay.

Us old farts have better get used to it, I am.  I'm teaching my wife how to read 1337 and internet slang (BRB, LOL, AFK, etc) because her english course doesn't cover it and even in brazilian kids are using the "canon" internet slang.

It's evolution baby!  *smiles*

LOL i liked the first one the best myself. It is so sad that just cause the guild was awesome they had to go mess it up...and this is our future generation growing up here ...... May god help us all.
