Title: Sword sheath on the right?
Post by: Black Cat on March 20, 2006, 02:05:32 PM: I don't really know where to post that, so I'll do it here.

I had today a OOC talk with someone in game about how it look strange (at least to me) that the Sword sheath that you can "put" on your armor (by crafting the belt I think) is on the right side (I think it is the case with the Katanas sheath).

I don't know if the one who has done the modelling (It comes from CEP I think) is left handed, but seeing as the char in game are all right handed, it is strange to have the sheath on the right.

It should make for a odd looking twist of the hand to draw your sword (try it in RL, though I recommend only faking it, otherwise you might cut yourself). I thought that sword (and sword sheath) were worn on the left side if you're right handed, it is much easier to draw your sword that way, even if you're carrying a shield in the left hand.

Nothing of real importance here, just a thought I had, but it is the main reason why my char doesn't have a sheath for his sword.

Post by: Stephen_Zuckerman on March 20, 2006, 03:48:53 PM: That's a very good point, especially seeing as ALL of the sheathes look like they were made for a lefty. While, admittedly, Pyyran was originally left-handed, when he was in PnP, NWN doesn't allow left-handed characters, so... The sheathes being on the wrong side are a bit odd.

I wouldn't mind having a choice but if we can't then right side sheaths are fine by me ;)
