The personcan be away for quite a whilebefore the house will be repossessed. The GM team review the houses every couple of months and then some housing might be put back on the market.
Are there abandoned homes for rent or sale?
All houses that are for sale are listed with the real estate agents. Talking under correction but I think most houses on Mistone have been sold, but lost of housing availbale on Dregar.
Are there guild rooms or apartments for rent?
Many people rent out rooms, you can try the Leilon Arms Inn, I know for a fact they rent out rooms.
What is the best method for renting a room, where to post?
Post in the Inn's noting that you looking for a room to rent. Those who have rooms will respond. But personally just visit the Leilon Arms Inn tonight and speak to Kali or Derek, they would be able to assist you with a room possibly.

I hope if the landlord is gone, they don't kick the renters out, being I bought my room.
