I was just curious as to why, if NWN is based off DnD 3.5 ruleset, that once I hit level 4 as a Ranger, I didn't receive my first level spells such as Animal companion. Is the level raised on this server or what. I actually have no clue as to why I didnt get the spell at level up, but I can however buy the scroll and summon a hawk companion. Any help with this issue would be highly appreciated.

Do you know what level rangers get their first spell bundle in the 3.0 ruleset? Or a website I can use as a reference unfortunately the only Players guide I own is 3.5. Or better yet got a ranger friend who you could ask "what level he got his first level spells"?

6 will work, but with a high wis you could already get some at lv4, but I am not sure about it, neither about what the wis has to be to get them on lv4.

As far as I know the only thing Wisdom has to do with spells is you must have a wisdom of 11 for lvl 1 spells and a wisdom if 12 for lvl 2 spells etc. (wisdom greater than or equal to 10+spell level)

For paladins and rangers if you have have enough you enough wisdom you can have it before...

The "0's" represent cantrips or lvl 0 spells If I remember correctly, though in DnD I was never aware of such .. but anyway it's not that big of a deal I suppose I will try and make it to lvl 6 and see what happens.

0's are not cantrips rangers and paladins dont have them the 0's are the lvl that if you have 14 wisdom at you can have the lvl spell earlier then you could with just the wisdom needed to cast that lvl spell

I am not sure what you meant by that muaddib, but I have 15 wisdom if it makes a difference

Muadib is talking about bonus spells. the higher the attribute (in your case wisdom) modifier, the more bonus spells you get. if the spell per day chart has a 0 for the number of spells, it means that you can only cast that level spell if you have a bonus spell for that level.
with a 15 Wis, you should have a bonus spell for 1st and 2nd lvl spells

I did see in LORE though that rangers reguardless of modifiers do not get Animal companion until level 6, however if I understood you correctly with a wisdom of 15 which gives me a modifier of +2 at level 4 I should be casting 2 level 1 spells per day, however I have no spells to cast even if I wanted to.

You should. At level 4 with 14 Wisdom my Paladin had a level 1 Spell. They follow the same progression.

Same here, Im a level 5 ranger, and got my first spell at level 4.

At fourth level, you have the ability to cast 1 first level spell IF your wisdom is 12+.
Since you wisdom is 15, you should have a spell slot for 1 first level spell. At level 6, you will get a second first level spell and your companion. At 8, you will get your first second level spell and still have 2 first level spells since your wisdom is 15.
EDIT: Both of my characters are rangers. My second character is 4 ranger/4 wizard/1 arcane archer. He has 1 first level ranger spell.

Thanks twidget that was more help than most things so far. So I suppose my original question has definately been answered but I still have a problem since I can't acces my spells for some odd reason. I will play around tomorrow and see if I can figure something out or ask a DM. Or post on a tech supoprt forum. Anywho ... thanks fellas.

Be polite, please. *Wags finger.* I checked you out on Lore and I didn't see any possible wackyness with a Subrace. So unless you are getting a subtraction to your Wisdom, or you are or have been currently suffering from the Death Penalty, you should rightly have your spell slot. But, to be perfectly honest, the wait until level 6 is just the same. That one spell will not change your game in any significant fashion.
For a Paladin, however, you are given Bless Weapon, which truly makes the level one slots very much worth it at a low level.

I would like to confirm this.
To gain one second level spells at level 8 a ranger would need a wisdom of 14 (+2 mod)? Or does the ranger gain two second level spells with a wisdom of 14 at level 8?
To gain one third level spell at level 11 a ranger would need a wisdom of 16 (+3). Or does the ranger only need a wisdom of 13 (+1) to be able to gain one third level spell?

they only get 1 bonus level 2 spell at ranger level 8 with wisdom 14?
they only get 1 bonus level 3 spell at ranger level 11 with wisdom 16?
I was wondering if someone can update Lore with the wisdom modifiers needed to take advantage of the bonus spells.
