Title: Horses, horses, horses
Post by: Dorganath on May 09, 2006, 07:13:46 AM
To all those whose characters have horses in-game...
You may have noticed there have been several reports of bugs/errors with the horses lately. This is a problem I'm looking into and trying to correct.
There are two parts of this, one of which is an annoyance and one which is a concern. The annoyance is that the inviso-horse thing is happening at all, but it could generally be "fixed" by a GM toggling your phenotype in-game. The concern is that somehow the type of horse a character has when this bug occurs is getting erased somehow. When this occurs, no amount of in-game fixing will get that horse to reappear.
So to that end I'd like to request that people refrain from using their horses until I can get things fixed. I think I have this horse type data loss issue fixed in code, but it's not yet in the modules. Just leave your horses tied down somewhere safe for the time being.
If you find yourself bugged (increased movement rate, decrease hide/move silent skills, cannot equip tower shields) and no horse appears under you, have a GM toggle your phenotype. If no horse returns to you after that, then post a grievance with the following information:
Your Bioware login Your character name The color of your character's horse.
Once the problem is fixed, I'll restore the horse data in the database one time and hopefully be done with it. as it is now, this loss of type is apparently not a fluke, is quite repeatable and is consuming way too much of my time to correct and recorrect, etc.
So thank you for your continued patience and understanding in this matter.

One question, since i haven't been online often lately:

Is this problem affecting Paladin Warhorses aswell?

 Thanks

Paladin warhorses use a slightly different system, but to be honest I do not know.

On a slightly related topic, are half-giants gonna be allowed to ride?  Some of us are getting close.

If your not sure about the effect on Paladin's Warhorses would you prefer that

a)   We refraid from their use for now
b)   Actively continue to use them at our own risk, and report any problems, or
c)   Test them out for you in any particular way ?

To help the team, i believe we should use them and report the bugs. This way it will be better for everyone, even if it annoys us it will stop happening (hopefully ^_^).

Yep. You may test them, though as I said, the system by which the paladin war horses function is significantly different from the one for the general public.

And dwarves, well... dwarves will walk. :)

(Seriously, a pony for Turor? He weighs more than I do. And I'm no pipsqueek!)
