(This parchment hangs next to the "Symphony" poem; although it is a much larger piece, the entire song is carefully printed in gold ink)
"If I Must Wait"
If I must wait ...
Then let it be in the forbidding winter
When Nature unfolds her frozen blankets
And the blustery winds crackle at life's energies.
If I must wait ...
Allow me to revel in our memories
With tears of joy and chuckles of melancholy
Defying the doubters while honoring the force of friendship.
If I must wait ...
Use the padded feet and feathered wings
Of the forest families to send me whispers
Of our love, not lost, but sequestered into dormancy.
If I must wait ...
Place my heart of gold upon you bosom
Listen through amber hearts to my passionate laments
Cast kisses across society's upheaval into my cell of solitude.
If I must wait ...
Dance with me in your dreams
Think of me every minute of every day
As I will you - teasing and tormenting my heart's anguish.
If I must wait ...
Know that I love you more than life itself
And that I am forever waiting at your bridge's end
With open arms and songs from deep within my soul.
And when you come ...
I shall hug you into reeling rapture
And taste, again, the nectar of ecstasy on your lips
And know that we are one ... forevermore.
