I have recently realized that when I polymorph (with the level 4 version of the spell) into any kind of creature that when I unpolymorph I have no level four spells to cast anymore even if I had 7 to start with. Is this a bug or am I just missing something?
-
Do you polymorph into somethng with less than 14 intelligence?
-
Yes, that would explain it a bit but I don't see the point of having 7 level 4 spells that are all wasted on one spell. Is it ment to be this way?

You must have an int (or cha or wis) of 10+spell level to memorize a spell of a given level.
Thats how spellcasting works. Therefore if your stat falls below 10+spell level you will lose all prepared spells of that level.
This is a base game mechanic of D&D.
-
Hence the reason Sin rarely uses any shapechanging spell.

I found a half decent work around for this when I was playing the mage, but it's really for if you're using any shapechanging spell as a last resort. First, determine what spell slots you lose. When preparing your spells, put all of your buff spells or "use me first" spells in the slots that would be disappearing. Then...ya know... use 'em first. If you're a sorcerer, polymorph on your last level four opening. If you're a wizard, put polymorph in the last level four slot. You still get to shapechange and also get to use up all your daily allowance of hellfire. You say you're losing all your level four slots, but if they've already been cast as extended or empowered buffs, no real loss. Also, if one of the buffs is an extended or empowered fox's cunning (or eagle's splendor, owl's wisdom) your spellcasting stat doesn't take so much of a hit and you might not lose as many spell slots. And you're a much beefier spider. Or umberhulk...whatever. But not zombies, cause they're farkin creepy.

When you shapechange you shouldn't get any Stat wich is lower than your
baseStats.
What you do lose is bonuses from rings, subskin etc.

*nods* Another way around this problem is to cast an Intelligence Spell on yourself before you transform. Tath loses six intelligence (from rings and amulets) when he polymorphs, but if I cast an Empowered Foxes on him, he'll retain an extra six intelligence when he polymorphs, keeping his total to what it would have been prior to polymorphing. Thus he loses no spells from spell slots.

Yep. With Luna I need to cast Owl's Insight before I shift. If I don't, I lose several spells.
It's an easy work around, you just have to remember to do it. :)
