I was in Hlint just now. going to the sundail there to get the date of the ingame day. for my characters dairy. And all I found was ground, and no sundail. What hapend to it? where is it now? Will it ever be back at the old place near the bank of Hlint?

Probably by the next server reset.
Could be that a fireball blew it up ooor a dm nuked it by accident.

Methinks one of the half-giants beat it to dust for not working at night. :P

Acctually.... it does work at night. *giggles*
Might want to change that for realism? Or perhaps its a moon dial as well.

it might work at night but not always since there are nights that the moon isn't around. I think. Might be different in Layonara.

I think that was fixed several updates ago, wasn't it?
Edit- Also if you need the game-date, it's on the footer-bit in every page of LORE. Or you can ask Aragen on IRC. "~layodate" Or buy a parchment and quill and use the ~~date function.
Or just ask the sundial, yeah... throwing out options, here!

Unless I'm totally out of my gourd (quite possible), Layo has 2 moons, which are only both new once every 200 years or so.

But the moon's position in the sky is not indicative of time, be there two, one, or none, so a "moondial" would be useless. The only thing the moon is good for is determining the time of month. (In Layonara, presumably there's a "primary" moon from which the months are derived.)

Do you guys really want us spending our limited resources on a sundial and not on other things that need to be worked on? :)

Also...you guys are so hung up on whether or not it works at night...did you stop to wonder how a sundial gives the day and date?
It's MAGIC. Just smile and nod and be happy. :)

Ha! That's a good one. I just may have to have Zug do that next time he's in Hlint at night... 8)

Hehe... I like Dorg's idea. Sides, if they go for realism they'd have to take away all your nifty Star Dusts... :)
-
Wow... that was amazing

Heh. I saw another server that had a similar sundial, EXCEPT they'd scripted it to not work at night and give some message about it casting no shadow or being useless at night. Pretty nice. And then they put it indoors....... ............ ...
