Title: Two Quick quick questions!
Post by: Philosopher on June 01, 2006, 01:25:57 AM
Just a quick post before I go out for a driving simulator lesson hehe:

Let me explain first, Let's say I have 99 arrows that are crafted with copper heads, and they give +1 negative damage.

I also have a minor enhancment which adds +2 electrical damage

- If I use the enhancement on the set of arrows will I get +1 negative damage AND +2 electrical damage,

or will the +1 negative damage get displaced so there is only +2 electrical damage?

Also I am a cleric of Toran and found that I can cast planar binding, or planar ally or something....now I get some fire opals to test out the spells and I was talking to a friend about it and he supposed that the summoning causes a creature to unwillingly be summoned from another plane. If this is the case is this bad RP?

Is it bad RP for Dulan the Toranite Cleric to use this spell?

Thanks!

Edd.

When adding elemental damage rods to a stack of arrows it will override any other damage on the arrows.
So it is a waste to add elemental damage to any other arrows than the ones you buy from the merchant as it will remove any other damage.
In regards to planar binding (http://nwn.layonara.com/Planar%20Binding) (wiz/sorc spell) and planar ally (http://nwn.layonara.com/Planar%20Ally)(cler spell)whichare two different spells. The binding youbinding something against its willand forcing it to help you. With ally you calling something from you deity's plane who answers the call and comes to help.
So I dont see a problem with a cleric using a ally as he is asking for help and the call is answered.

That being said, Would it be against a Neutral Good Wizard's character to cast Planar Bidning...

I mean, She's a good person, but if Rhynn sees someone she respects doing it, She's VERY easily influenced....

Planar Binding and Planar Ally both, according to the spell description in the PHB require a deal to be made with the creature that is summoned.  Planar Ally, however, is the more diplomatic and less demanding of the two (since it is a request of one's deity to send the creature), but it's also less flexible (one can only summon the planar ally of the deity in question, which is preset).  Planar Binding involves yanking an outsider or elemental creature from where it is on the planes forcefully and trying to cow the thing into obeying in exchange for what is offered.  Overall, Planar Ally is probably more of what you're looking to use, Edd.
