Mentioned this on IRC in the past but wanted to throw it out here for the record.
Would be nice if fund raising efforts could be done through temple donation boxes. Players running collection campaigns would hire theseNPCs and the players would use temple donation boxes to offer goods to a cause.
I'm not sure how detailed the tracking is for donations (like if the GMs get a list of material donated), but I'm guessing at least the value of donations is available.
PCs would have to hire these NPCs for each town they wanted one stationed in. Hlint would be expensive (since it is most popular), and outlying cities less so.
I reiterate this suggestion because I find myself throwing out items that I ICly would be glad to donate. However, also ICly, my PC cannot afford to travel to Point Harbor nor can he carry excess weight around. I'm sure a lot of worthy fund raisers suffer because of this.

Agreed and we hope to do this. It probably will not be NPC's as you suggested but the boxes and donations are in the plans for some future time.

Bumping this in hopes it makes it into the MMO. Given the current pair of enormous collection drives for Leringard and Mariner's Hold a system like this would be invaluable.
Collections and fundraisers are a fantastic way to get a large number of PCs invested in the world. Providing more tangible feedback on progress would improve this aspect. (Collection for kingdoms, taxes, charity, etc.)
Some thoughts in no particular order:
- Allow the creator to specify a quantity and name of item multiple times.
- Have the collector (be it chest or NPC) provide a live ingame summary of what has been collected so far.
- Allow multiple collectors to be created that link to the same fundraiser.

If it is possible , could random characters be placed around Mistone and Dregar to collect what people are gathering right now for the relief off Leringard and Mariner's hold ?
People are willing to put a lot off effort into the collecting , but my guess is that every one runs into the same problem : storage-room.
I know for my own character that he can fill about 9 chests in about 2-4 hours RL with either raw materials or worked materials , but i too run into problems with storing them .
