How is the DC for for a save against a spell determined. For instance if I cast a spell that has a fort save or death like implosion, what goes into the DC that the creature has to make. Obviously the base fort save is part of it. I read something about every 5 levels of spellcraft adding to saves against spells. For a cleric, is the Wisdom modifier a component? If a caster has a high spellcraft does that make it harder to save against his spells? Anyway, I am trying to figure out how to make a caster stronger in terms of raising the DC for saves against his spells and I am wondering what the character can do to be stronger. Thanks.

i've always wondered that myself

to get your spells to have a higher DC you have to raise your base caster stat (wiz=int cleric=wis). the way the DC for a spell is determied is, i belive 1/2 caster lvl + spell lvl + state mod (wis, int, cha, whichever) + Feats. so if you wish to raise your dc for your spells, look at this formula and raise the parts you can to get a higher DC. For example, to get my DC up on my wizard, i cast fox cunning, that gets me an extra 1 or 2 points to the dc. for your cleric, cast owls wisdom to get your wis up higher.

as for the type of save (death, fire, electricts, enchantments) i belive that has to do with speacil mods. for example elves have a +2 for saves vs enchantments, i belive. and there are rings that add +'s for saves vs death. Cloak of the north adds +'s for saves vs cold spells. ect ect

There is an explanation of DC here (http://nwn.layonara.com/Difficulty%20Class).

it's 10+level of spell, +primary stat bonus, + feats
so a wizard, casting a fireball with an 18 int, has a DC of 10(base) +3(third level spell) +4 (intelegence) for a total of 17, now if they have spell focus that would add i believe another 2 making it 19
