The King is Dead!!
Word reached this writer of King Kareem Waylend's passing. Perhaps due to the King's long years of caring leadership, this brownie took his longevity for granted. All of us will leave forever from these lands at some point. Even the Dragoncalled. It is sad our king had to leave us now, but there are absolutely no signs that anything but fate took him from us.
The messenger, sent on behalf of Lord Shaviro, sought out The Dragon's Whisper in an effort to quell any rumors about the King's passing. To quote, "The rites of succession have begun and will conclude in a timely fashion. Rest assured that the continuity of the Kingdom and security of its people are not in jeopardy whatsoever." It should be noted that Lord Shaviro and the other royal advisors, as well as key representatives from around the world, are together working on determining the King's successor.
The messenger, arriving under the banner of Mistone, bid me speak with Katrien Hommel. Upon speaking with her, I am convinced of her knowledge of the situation now and going forward. She too very much wishes for the Dragoncalled to stand in support of the process underway to find a new leader. It is clear, I think, that there are forces that would wish to distract us with rumors and lead us into chaos. We must not let that happen.
Lord Shaviro is the nephew of the King, son of his youngest sister. He and the Princess are working tirelessly to sort through the process of succession. The residents of the castle in Pranzis and, surely, all the people of the land should take this period of mourning to recall the life of this great man. Though he no longer lies in state, I encourage all readers to travel to Pranzis to judge the mood of the people there. I am confident that they will see sad but proud citizens, prepared as we all are to support a new king or queen.
On a final note, Katrien wished to remind us that there are people across all the lands displaced by the very battles we Dragoncalled seek to win. A skirmish for us on a field of battle means little to us the next day. We leave behind, though, trampled fields and burned homes. The price of victory no doubt, but a price born more heavily by the peasants we seek to defend. Lend your aid in coins and services as you are able, be it to your god's temple, the people of Roldem, or closer to home.
Long live the King!
