Title: Virus in X-Chat?

Hi all

Today as I updated my virus definitions for F-Prot I got the following message:

xchat.exe Infection: Possibly a new variant of W32/IRCBot-based!Maximus

and subsequently it blocked my X-chat client.

This is common to have botbased viruses in your irc client, be it mIRC, X-chat or whatnot. Remove the virus, reinstall and make sure it doesnt get infected again.

I tried to download the X-chat from the irc.layonara site, and the version I downloaded gave my virus warnings as well as soon as I began to extract the zip file.

I have that version as well and no problems with the AV.
