Title: LORE, IRC and other services scheduled for Maintenance

Ok folks,

The LORE server needs to migrate IP addressess to a whole new subnet that's designated just for us. This means it'll be on a faster switch and network backbone but this also means that a lot of bad things may happen during the transition.

So, on Sunday June 25th you can expect the following services to be down for an indeterminate period of time:

*  LORE
*  LORE Character Updates
*  IRC
*  aragen the IRC bot
*  E-Mail (for those with @layonara.com addresses)
*  DNS

Out of all of these, the DNS will have the widest range of impact... when the DNS server goes down the following commonly used addresses will no longer work:

*  west.layonara.com (69.80.198.68)
*  east.layonara.com (69.80.198.70)
*  central.layonara.com (69.80.198.69)
*  planes.layonara.com (69.80.198.71)
*  quest.layonara.com (69.80.198.72)

Now, the actual NwN servers and such will still run and will be totally functional with the exception that you'll need to use the direct IP address rather than the assigned domain name.

I will be posting here with updates and progress as it happens and will also let everyone know when things get rolling.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but this is a do-or-die kind of thing. I was able to postpone things 'till after the plot quest tomorrow but my webhost is stuck between a rock and a hard place because of my hesitation with performing the migration.

Friendly reminder that this is going to be happening. The game servers will not be able to reached via name during this maintenance. They will work just fine via the IP addresses above. Please use the IP addresses until further notice. Spread the word.

Also, something I just remembered... you can use the original Server Status (http://www.layonaraonline.com/server-status.asp) page during this transition time.

Ok, so here's the good news... Most of the grunt work is done.... here's the bad... it'll be 24-48hrs before the dust settles.

At this time, IRC works for some people but LORE and all other hosted websites are unreachable.

The NwN world server addressess should work just fine though.

* west.layonara.com
* central.layonara.com
* east.layonara.com
* planes.layonara.com
* quest.layonara.com

Anyways, this is just an update.

At some point in the next day or so, LORE, IRC and all of the above will be down for hardware upgrades.
