Dear Diary
It was only a fornight ago that my brothers, Haugrim, Arkolio and I left our home and ventured out into the world. Two weeks! and yet if feels like a lifetime ago that I was training at Casterly Castle. So much has happened that I have decided to keep a journal of my travels and adventures. First of all Haugrim couldnt travel with Ark and I as he had matters to attend to... such is the life of a cleric. So Ark and I went on ahead without him. I really wanted to wait for him but Ark insisted we continue and well I think he needs a little more help in looking after than dear Haugrim does. Ark is well... I suppose wayward would describe him the best. Anyhow Ark and I ended up in a lovely town by the name of Hlint.
It is a curious town, friendly though. Some of the residents of the town had some quests on offer in return for gold. Ark of course took them up straight away, without a thought. I went along on them to keep him from trouble and well I needed coin too for some decent armour. On one of the quests which was centered in the crypts we met a cleric by the name of Tempartiar. A wonderfully friendly and helpful man, not bad looking too... Anyhow he aided us to kill a demon and take its essence. I was glad Temp was there I dont think Ark and I would have managed without him. He somehow gave us confidence and the strength to fight those creatures. I learnt a lot that day. My experience in weilding my sword has grown enormously through the running of these errands and for that I am thankful. I feel as though what I learnt in those first few days is more than I ever in training.
Two days ago Ark and I met up with a small group of adventurers. I dont remember all their names. One had a beautiful big cat.. his name was Mahood. Such a graceful creature. His master was a womanby the name of Myrrha, I think thats how it is spelt. There was a ranger too, his name was Roy. Roy already knew Ark, apprantly they went adventuring in the Goblin caves near Hlint when I was sleeping. Poor Roy he had no idea Ark was collecting all the gold. Then there was a paladin by the name of Taradon. I knew he was a paladin straight away just by his manner. Such a selfless soul. he looked after us well and he worshiped my very own Rofirein! We had a lot in common. He hadnt heard of Haugrim though. Those two wouldmake great friends.
Taradon took us to many places. It was wonderful to see much of the surrounding areas of Hlint. I was when we came across a group of bandits thatmy joy turned to horror! Everything was going well when suddenlywe weresurrounded by bandits. They ambushed us from atop a hill. Poor Ark couldnt get away in time and died.... *tears splat on the page*
I thought I had lost him forever. I hadnever felt so empty in my whole life. I was ashamed, angry, saddenedall at the same time. I can barely remember any more of the journey back to Hlint. Iremember not wanting to leavethe place where he fell. I needed to protect Ark. I had made a promiseto my parents and to Haugrim that I would keep him out of trouble and I had failed. The otherscoaxed me back to town.I could barely believe my eyes when Haugrim apeared near the gates of Hlint. Somehow, his soul had not been lost and he had beendeemed worthy by the gods to have another chance. i was overwhelmed with happiness.
Ihope Haugrim gets to us soon! I am finding it increasingly difficult to keep tabs on my brother let aloneensure his safety. Well I feel I have written enough and must goout and see what adventures will bring me this day. You never know perhaps Haugrim is awaiting us right now. I best go and look
