ok ok... Horses are soooooooo cool, but, how about another tipes of mounts? I imagine, an elf mounted in a Tiger(maybe not a dire one, i think is better) or maybe a big veteran Deer with great horns (eh?! looks cool)... An Orc mounted in in a dire wolf or maybe other thing... Eh? humans with their horses...
Something like this, how about?

Riding dogs for halflings!
-
Someone been playing WOW to much?
-
Oi, Riding Dogs are a cornerstone of Halfling Paladins, thank you! *He laughs.*
I'm curious as to what new mounts have been added.
-
Someday we might be seeing rideable golems and dragons, too. ;)
-
Let me just interject one thing about rideable anythings...
When your character sits on top of a horse, there is one single creature there, not two. It is effectively a change to your character's phenotype, making it appear different, in this case, appear as if mounted on horseback. On top of that
If there was some magical "ride this" type of feature, where some arbitrary creature could be mounted, then I would say "Sure, let's add some more rideable options." As it is, however, it's kind of a flaky system with some rather peculiar difficulties, as has been seen over the last few months. Also, we found out that because some subraces are a bit unique in their appearances, the rideable horses we have now cause some very ugly side-effects which were not all that fun to correct.
So while this would all be really, really cool (except for the rideable golem thing...just bad all around that is), the fact is that in order to develop that (and we did not directly develop the horse system, only adapt it to Layonara) would take a lot of time and effort better spent elsewhere.

It can be risky to go with an unconventional mount, though... you may not get what you think you're getting (http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/ootscript?SK=140).
Regardless, the addition of horses (which have established rules in the PnP rulebooks) is cool on its own, and I appreciate all the work the world designers have done to incorporate the custom content into Layo. With any luck, someday, I might reach a level where I might be able to use a horse. *laughs*

Anyone care for riding on the back of a Giant Turtle? *grin* That's a new form of sea transportation for you!

Just to be clear, Layonara horses don't follow the established PnP rules regarding combat bonuses and the like. The only benefit they give is an increased movement rate.

Ah. Thanks for the clarification. Nevertheless, it's neat for RP, and useful, given the scale of Layo. Good to know, though.

Eh?! i still like the big deer idea, i think its not so hard, just change a bit the horse =D
-
You try editing a 3-D model to add the countless polygons needed to change a horse into a deer. Better still, don't just try, do it! Then add that as a phenotype option to all the character types. THEN get back to the development team.

Heya, i think the deer is possible, =D just add horns, or maibe edit cor copy the original deers =D just try eh?! well, thats all.
