Title: Prayers, Constellations and clouds
Post by: Nibor21 on July 11, 2006, 01:58:44 AM
Due to the fact that the night sky is now permanantly cloudly, should there be effect on cleric getting spells etc as they can no longer see the constellations of their deities?

I know that the constellations vary in significance between the various churches and their involvement in the required rituals. Some of these rituals should really now be changed or edited.

Its unlikely that the churches will have modified their rituals by this time since it hasn't even been a year yet since the sky darkened and most constellation based rituals are annual or less frequent.

I'm interested as well in in the answer to your first question.

The powers from the deities are not weakend or modified at all. The constellations still move, the stars still shine, nothing has changed about them at all. The same with the sun and all of that. Since the powers from the deities have not changed the temples would not really change either.

Though these constellations are magical in nature and don't behave quite like real constellations,  they are very likely to follow the same patterns they have for centuries.  The moons continue to orbit just as they always have.  These kinds of things are the basis for calendars, and the churches would have records showing when astronomical things occur.  That way, they know when to start preparations for a special event, even if the sky can't be seen.
