Title: Ted Stevens on Net Neutrality
Post by: Stephen_Zuckerman on July 18, 2006, 12:19:50 PM
Now, I'm not asking about politics - personally, I don't care what party this fellow is, or what his other ideas are.

I'm just frightened that his man is the one who's in charge of regulating internet use in America.

Welllll... the difference is, with this guy in charge, China may soon have the better Internet.  It has more independant routers on its own territory, and the US laws (or lack thereof) with regards to net neutrality place the 13 major backbone routers in the US at serious risk - not of destruction, but of crippling greed on the part of the telecoms.

And China may not be all that bad for long - people have already figured out how to get past the Great Firewall. (http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/07/04/1221253)

When I heard this guy the other week I was just shocked someone could have such a lame understanding of technology and be in a position that this person is in.
